I'm a World Eaters player fairly new to 40k.
My army is a standard 1,500 pt Khornate assault army on foot backed up by a tricked out DP w/ Berserker Glaive, Bloodthirster, pack of 8 Blood Letters, and a Daemonicly Possessed Dreadnought with two close combat weapons.
I do pretty well against the people I've played against so far with one notable exception. The Necrons hand me my head every time we sit down. :realmad: Their player floats his Monolith infront of two squads of twenty warriors backed by two Tomb Spiders and 4 Heavy Destroyers. The Monolith sits comfortably in the middle of the field by turn 2 and my DP gets stuck there along with half my army and is summarily shot to death. :glare:
I've tried incorporating a squad of 8 Terminators to Deep Strike behind him but his Veil of Darkness screws me every time.
As a Necron player myself, I can see how you'd have trouble, especially now that the Rhino Rush has been nerfed. Necrons are very shooty, and their new ability to turbo boost all their destroyers make their big guns even more mobile. You need to bring some big guns to take out that Monolith, either a Predator with all lascannons or a Defiler with indirect fire. Don't bother going after the Lord unless he warps really near you, remember he can just warp right out of close combat. Do your best to take out his warriors quickly and get him down to the phase out mark. Remember, once he's lost 75% of his Necrons, he's lost. Might be a good idea to leave the Bloodthirster behind, because the rule that says all Necron gauss weapons can glance on a 6, also say they can wound on a 6, so they can force even the big guy to take his armor saves. Use the points for other things.
As said above ingage all other units so that he will warp out at 25%.
havocs with 4 lascannons will calm him down with that lith, and put alot of meat in it he will try to take them out.
the dread can tear open a monolith you know, S10 is all you need. Put some power fist on your champion so that on the charge you get S9 to wack it good!
A typical example of how Worldeaters are a quite unbalanced army. They kick ass against most armies, but there are a few armies they're almost chanceless against.
What you need:
-Lascannons, for killing the monolith
-Lots of aspiring champions with mutation and powerfist, these might kill the monolith in close combat.
-Give all your squads Rhinos, advance along the flanks
-Bikers can turbo boost and get so close to the enemy that the monolith isn't the closest anymore
Ave Dominus Nox!
