I am planning on selling my Chaos Army on eBay and I was wondering if they would fetch more if all of them are painted. I have about 12 space marines (in the Iron Warriors scheme) and the rest of my 66 piece collection is unpainted. So does anybody have any experience selling on eBay and can tell me about the relation of painted and unpainted armies.
I personally would want it unpainted but if it was really good painted some people would pay more for it. I have seen a leman russ go for £26 pounds (it was £18 in stores at the time), it was painted...

Ok... I have:
1 Chaos Sorcerer
1 Kharn the Betrayer
4 Chaos Marine Bikers
2 Chosen Terminators w/ Reaper Cannons
2 Chosen Terminators w/ Heavy Flamers
1 Chosen Terminator w/ Melta/Bolter
6 OOP Khorne Chaos Bloodletters
5 OOP Raptors
4 OOP Obliterators
5 OOP Daemonic Beasts
23 OOP? Khorne Bezerkers
12 Iron Warriors Painted Chaos Space Marines
in a plastic case with styrafoam that holds 108 pieces. Any clue as to how much they would be worth in US dollars?
I'd go for £50 - £60 u could push it at £80 but that might be a bit high
I'd go for $95 - $115 u could push it at $150 but that might be a bit high
(About) i can't find a decent convertor program on the internet
Try looking on Ebay and look at the prices on there.

Take the retail price and half it or maybe 3/4 of the original for unpainted models, for painted,(be honest) If you know they look good, I mean contest worthy, then bumping the price up is fine. However, if you don't have that kind of skill then take it down more than usual.
the key to ebay is stretching the truth. make sure to use terms like 'masterfully painted', and what have you. for a painted army you should be able to fetch more than the army is actually worth. i would suggest setting to what its worth in stores. SOMEONE will bid on it. if it isnt fully painted you'll be lucky to get what its worth. i would suggest you paint up whats left (and do a very good job of it). take extra time on a few models and make sure you take pictures of them.
If you want to SELL on eBay, you really need to have photos of what what you're selling. Otherwise, you will probably get low-ball bids. From personal experience, buying and selling, unpainted figures sell at higher prices than painted, if you have no pics. If you can show an above-average paint-job, then you may get much more than retail prices.
Is it possible to use all the models listed above in the same army? Because I would assume that it would fetch more money to sell all the pieces together which could be used in one army and sell the rest of the pieces by themselves.
When it comes to Ebay, they won't care so much if they can all be used - a lot of people just want as many models as they can get.Originally posted by GotD0t@Dec 24 2004, 11:13
