I plan to get a squad of 10 chaos furies for my 1500 pts chaos undivided army.
My main use for them will be for a fast shock squad that will tie up jump pack assault squads and eventually eradicate them. They've been my bane those days and I want a way to stop them from obliterating my CSM squads and my Havocs. Coupled with my Daemon prince with D. flight I should be able to support my troops as they advance.
I wanted to ask more experienced players that used them what they think of them. Should I put them enslaved to a chosen unit with a daemon icon or should I just give icons to my 2 10 men CSM squad and a personal icon to my lord so I can summon it from 2 different places?
I don't know for sure, but everything I have heard about Furies is that they really aren't unit killers. I have heard they are good for tying up annoying enemies, but don't expect them to kill anything. But I have no real play experience.
For the points they're more effective in cc than marines. 2 attacks base at str/init 5 are very effective. Just make sure they get into CC that first turn they come out or they're bolter bait.
Against marines however you might get better service out of deamonettes, the rending can make mincemeat out of even terminators. Plus if the jumppack guys DO get into CC with your marines you'll be glad to have that warp scream to give you that extra edge. And with fast attack spots at a premium, you'll have room for your bikes and raptors if you use deamonettes.
Well tying up unit is what I'm looking for, just long enougth for my lord to get in there and do his work.
I would have imagined that 3 attacks with charge at Ini/Str 5 would do some damage, especially if there is 30 of them, so if I get in CC against Marines I should hit them on 4+ and wound them on a 3+, thats a chance of 15 hits and of around 5 wounds if average luck is in. If my lord gets in with his 6 attacks allowing no save and hitting on 2+ also at Init 5, that unit should be history.
I'll think about the daemonette but they will be a little slow for the purpose I had in mind.
