Hey I wasn't sure if this was meant to go in the cahos or necron forum so I put it in caos as I thought you guys would know more about the chaos army itself.
I've been playing against my friend (chaos) with my necrons and every time we play I just cant seem to take down his demon prince, does this sound reasonbale to you since some other kids are saying I should have no problem with my warscythe.
Even the wounds I do get on him (which according to him I have to roll a 5 or 6 i think) he eliminates with "feel no pain"
The best i've ever done is take his lord down to 1 wound but by yhrn id lost my entire army.
Does this sound reasonable to you guys?
I'm not familiar with the chaos codex, never even opened one so for all I know he could be making these up as he goes.
This is possible -- the thing about Chaos is that there's a lot of options. If he takes Daemonic Stature and Daemonic Resilience, he'll get Toughness 6 which would mean you need 5+ to wound him with a Necron Lord.
I believe Feel No Pain only works some of the time (50%?), but it is useful for ignoring wounds. I think he needs the Mark of Khorne in order to get that.
Khorne is generally a HTH kind of army. If you take the Necron thing that lets you teleport (Veil?), your Lord should be able to keep a big squad of Necrons out of assault range long enough to shoot up most of his troops -- and some Heavy Destroyers would be perfect for shooting his Prince from afar.
Also he can't use feel no pain against any weapon that instant kills or a close combat weapon that ignores armor saves. It's just like your WBB roll but he gets it right when the wound is inflicted. That means your warscythe negates his Feel no pain. So you shouldn't have as much a problem with it.
Yeah he's a khorn player, sorry forgot to mention that, gonna pop in to GW to have a read through the codex, nice to know he cant use feel no pain, will let him no next time we play... tomorrow... <_<.
Another Case of Chaos, a player who can't read the whole lines in a codex...

No flaming, you have been warned.
A Necron Lord vs a Khorne Lord is a hard match-up for the Necron player. I generally do quite well if he takes a Lord. My suggestion would be to keep hitting him with squads of Warriors and Immortals rather than getting your Lord to deal with him. That's how my lord always goes down to Necrons. A C'tan is another story. When my friend places down a C'tan it pretty much spells my death warrant. I've never been able to beat him. Damn you blood rage!
And by saying that I request you do the same lol. I understand where you're coming from but please don't flame.Originally posted by idinos@Jan 14 2005, 032
Wow, you always repeat that line like a little parrot. Relax a bit, have a nap, and then pull your head out of your ass.
Against a Demon Prince your best bet is to soften it up with massed gauss fire or heavy destroyer and then throw something like scarabs or flayed ones at it. If he takes a bezerker glaive then I suggest using a lord on destroyer body and phase shifter with those flayed ones/wraiths/scarabs. If he takes a dread axe I suggest just shoving 120 points worth of scarabs at his 200+ lord and just let them argue for the rest of the game.
