Hi all. I'm going to get a new Chaos Army, but I'm stuck deciding whether to get Thousand Sons or World eaters. I've seen lots of World eater forces, and they are known to be good. But where i play there are lots of shooty armys so i don't know if i should try and go into C.C with them or to stay away and use pshycic abilities. Can anyone help me?

Well, based just on your name here, I think you should go Tzeentch. Doesn't make sense for a Khorne lord to be calling himself a sorceror, now does it?

Also, I don't really like the Khorne list. It's all about close combat, nothing else. All you do with that army is charge, and while it may take some tactics like using cover and such, the units may Blood Frenzy and not agree with you. While it's good to slaughter your opponents now and then with an army like that, not having the option to do anything else makes it kind of repetitive after a while...

At least with Tzeentch you have to think some more (no offense to you World Eaters out there).
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, even if it's wrong.

personally I think tzeentch is much more versitile, my friend pulled an evil little trick on me with his thousand sons... six possesed with wings all with mark of tzeentch, warp focus, and gift of chaos... pricy but he turned practicly my entire command squad into mewling chaos spawn.... but yah tzeentch is much more versitile then khorne armies.....

Why commit?

Why not go undivided?

Field units of both gods at your leisure!

As for your opponents, why on earth would you tailor your army to beat them?

That is the surest way to lose!

Tailor your army to maximize it's Own strengths, and minimize it's Own weaknesses.

Only then will you be on the road to victory!

Good Luck!

Personally I find World Eaters too bland and uninteresting. Their tactics are far too single-minded; all you need to do is run forwards. They can even leg it through withering amounts of firepower and still come out on top in CC. That, to me, isn't my idea of a fun army. Thousands sons provide more of a challenge and therefore a greater sense of achievement when you emerge victorious.

Joker has a point, playing vanilla chaos means you can field units from any legion, using all the marks yet retaining a unified colour scheme. It all depends on what your style of play is (which you can either stick with or go the opposite to, depending on whether you want a change. I did- I play Tyranids and Emperor's Children)

Vanilla chaos is nice for tactical and fielding advantages, and I play Word Bearers, but personally I think that fluff wise the 4 gods are a little more set, with not as much room to improvise, but they also give you more of the fluff to work with.

But with the Tzeentch and Khorne idea in mind, I think you should go with Tzeentch because more people probably play Khorne, and Tzeentch just seems, like the people above said, a more interesting army to field on the battlefield that takes more thought.

Are any World Eaters players going to give their opinions?

oh c'mon man, you gotta play khorne. You can be just like everyone else!

I wonder how khorne deals with objective based games...

Thousand Sons are some tough dudes, I played em once, and aside from being able to outmanuever them, they were hard to outshoot, plus the champions take some good psychic powers, they are tough.

Also under the new rules, thousand sons go at I4, and they can rapid-fire and assault on the same round.

Thanks everyone, looks like i'll go with tzeentch because all i see is Khorne everywhere. But then again, maybe i am wrong. I have been told that the Thouasand Sons are rubbish and should not be played, and that they always get beat
