take a dreadaxe and cross your fingers.

possessed with talons may prove effective, due to the rending ability. Ussually a great fear for the c'tan is a genesteeler. But possessed would be of course, less numerous.

plus, if you think that nighty is bad, just wait till a railgun hits or venom cannon fex hits your DP, those are all instant death shots.

Your whole strategy shouldn't rely on just 1 model. This advice is for the player wielding nighty also. I have a full unit of every necron (cept pariahs) and I don't field the nightbringer, unless I run into a powergaming khorne player (you know the guy, bloodthirster, and tooled up DP @ 1000 points).

I bet if you played a chaos lord instead of a DP, and asked the necron player not to play nighty, you'd both have a fun game. Just an idea... Of course, depending on the points. But I would imagine you are playing 1500 or less if your DP is the heart of your strategy.

I have never beaten a Necron using a C'tan with my Khorne. The players I've had plonk a Nightbringer in one spot in the table, and a monolith on the other, and I have to charge both. Daemon Princes will die. Never rely on one to kill A Nightbringer (maybe a Deciever, maybe). Possessed are dealt with by throwing scarabs against them and then getting immortals in range. Even if all 8 charge the Nightbringer it'll still have, on average, 2 wounds left.

As Justin says, compromise. Against Necrons I only ever use a Lord now because it makes the game more fun for both parties. Just like how Khorne crumples under a C'tan, there is no way Necrons can beat a DP with Daemonic Armour.

Justin and Tony I love what you have to say! These guys are right, if you guys each used something besides a DP and Nighty you would have much more fun. I can't stand we people are all about the win espiecally when it is not tournement play. Now it might be hard to convince that guy not to use nighty but simple don't play him if he is going to be like that. Eventually he will have no one to play. Also in his defense though there is nothing wrong with him using that model but if he was into the spirit of things rather than the win he would change his list here and there to keep it fun for him. Alright I 'll get off my soap box. . . . . :hmm:

My friend plays Necron. I forgot what C'Tan he uses specifically, but it's over 300 points and really good....

Anyways, 1-on-1 with a Bloodthirster, and he won EVERY TIME. 1 out of 10 times he totally destroyed the Bloodthirster in one hit.

So, basically, you're screwed with Khorne.

i have a necronarmie and a chaos army. the nightbringer is hard to defeat in cc. if u r playin by points cost (whats left after turn 6) then my advice is use speed. take out the restof his army fist as the nb is slow as hell and cant be transported in any way. i cant advice u in any other way as i amnot cluedup on ur army
They say God has existed from the beginning of time and will exist beyond the end of time. Can you imagine trying to sit through his home movies?

When did I realize I was God? Well, I was praying and I suddenly realized I was talking to myself.

excatly if the guy uses the nightbringer (i dont pay either ctan EVER unless a powergamer comes along...) in a 1k point battle ignore it alltogether. go for the rest of his army. since the nightbringer takes up 360 points he only has 640 points of other 'necron' units. whihc is not that much (at most if he was using all warrior list owuld be about 35 warriors which is not that hard to kil w/out a res orb nearby

Recipe for a dead ctan:
take one daemon prince
add demonic strength
add demonic mutation
add terminator armor
(if with mark of khorne add rage of khorne)
add a dread axe
add furious charge
mix in with a ctan and with a bit of luck and you should have one dead ctan
There once was a Lord named Vlad,
Who's fighting skillz really were mad.
He killed and he maimed,
He spilled blood in Khorne's name.
And the fact that he's legal makes me glad
(special thanks to Uriel Zarium for the last line/touching it up)

in my experiances the nightbringer can be a tought little god (thing) to beat. but I have seen a nightbringer die on a number of occassions all thanks to 3 obliterators, it took 3-4 turns of shooting but it didnt realy stand a chance ( try it, you will be suprised, realy. )
