World Eaters, marines with the mark of Khorne, are very good at Close Combat and fast attack

They often use bikes and their marines one use is to get into close combat as quickley as they can, they have tons of attacks, and are one of the best close combat armies. The one drawback for some people is that they are pretty easy and straightforward to play and demand little tactics.

They also use dreadnoughts, bloodletters, and sometimes defilers.

Another fast army is Night Lords, I don't have much experience with them at all but they are sort of the opposite of Iron Warriors, able to take extra fast attack choices while diminishing the number of heavy support choices they have. They also use bikes a lot and raptors.

thx for the input.. i was thinking about the zerkers, but i'm a fan of having a bit more strategy involved .. sort of why i added the bikes to my iron warriors, like i said i play in house games but i'm wanting to branch off into tourneys at local shops, and i'm afraid that its gonna be a bit cheese andout of the the iron warriors theme.

Then I'd really go for the Night Lords, fewer people play them, they are a really swift and fast army, and I'm pretty sure there is a good amount of strategy involved.

Although WE are incredibly fast, I agree, it does sound like you want more strategy. So Night Lords are probably the way to go. Just some thoughts:

Night Vision is ok in the off chance it's a Night Fight, but even a good chunk of your army will be CC, I should think. So a nice skill, but nothing great. The stealth adept skill is really quite nice for Havoc squads infiltrating in cover, as well as small, specialised 5 man CSM squads.

Although I've never played Night Lords, I can see how their strategy would go. It certainly leaves some very fluffy options available.

HQ: You could have a Lord on a bike zipping around with the rest of your bike squads. Giving him a Dark Blade and chugging him off would be pretty good. Alternatively you could have a Lord in a Raptor Squad with Daemonic Flight, though they loose hit any run.

Elites: Though I'm tempted to scream "Obliterators", they're not very fluffy, being so slow. But then you might like them. Terminators with heaps of Reaper Autocannons is probably the way to go, but only in higher point games.

Troops: 3-4 small squads of 5 CSM with lascannons/missile launchers that make up for a lack of Heavy support. 1-2 squads of 8 CSM all decked out with CC nasties.

FA: One suqad of bikes and a squad of raptors as well. But I don't think any more than one of these as these units are so expensive. I think the real potential of Night Lords is met with another two squad of Furies. They're fast, powerful and cheap. Have a couple of 8-10 man squads of them and then charge 4 enemy positions really early with 4 FA options. I think that would be fairly impressive.

Heavy: None. You're a Night Lord. Your normal CSMs zip in, drop down a lascannon and take pot shots. You shouldn't wait for pondorous heavy weapons.

You could also go with Alpha Legion. They have 1 less FA option, but to make up for it they have better skills. Though your troops aren't moving fast, they make up for it by infiltrating. And you still get 3 FA options. So it's nothing to worry about, really. But Night Lords are rarer, more fluffy and more in line with what you're after most likely.

hmm good thoughts i agree with some of it .. however i'm a fan of using rhino's. i would of course have to do out some math in order to figure out the basics, i think its a good start. but like i said i'm still read'n through the codex ..

nothing unfluffy about bikes and rhinos in an IW army, we rely on our wargear to bring us to victory, vehicle heavy lists are very fluffy.

Now possessed with flight and raptors don't really fit the bill...

If you already have an IW army, just try to add some mobility before you go out and buy a whole new army. Toss in 2 or *maybe* 3 rhinos and a decent sized bike squad. I think that is totally acceptable to Iron Warriors.

If you are going to start another army, I would definitely recommend Night Lords. I do this for 2 reasons, 1st, if you play in tourneys, some people will cry cheese/ding you on sportsmanship just because you bring WE to the table, and the 2nd is because you seem to like strategy, which WE lack a bit.

Also not being as popular, Night Lords would also be interesting for your opponents.

Another quick army would be Word Bearers, they summon up alot of daemons, and they mix it up pretty quickly. But I'd stick with Night Lords, since I feel Word Bearers are rather random since they rely on reserve rolls for things to happen.

    fast armies

Another option might be Alpha legion. Although it isn't a fast attack specialist like Night Lords they can still get the usual three fast attack choices and can have bikes, raptors or furies (if you take cultists for demon summoning). If you like fast attack because it enables you to get close to your enemy then being able to have most of your army infiltrate can certainly achieve that for you. Being able to infiltrate is really useful for seizing objectives or table quarters as well. One point to infiltrate is pretty cheap.
