Which is better, chaos bikes, champions on steeds, or units with demonic flight or demonic speed? I had a play against imperial guard with Khorne beserkers and Demonic speed. They were pretty effective once they got there. They were a pretty expensive option though.
I assumje you mean you had khornate possessed with flight? Otherwise you're not allowed to have Berzerkers with daemonic speed nor even possessed with daemonic speed.
Now as to your question, Furies are without a doubt the best fast attack chaos has. Cheap, fast and strong.
how are khorne not allowed for deamonic speed? I personally love raptors, I was thinking of doing a raptor cult themed army of nightlords they are pretty cool.
Oh, are you talking about chosen khorne champions with speed? I'm sorry I didn't think of that. That's perfectly viable but extremely costly, i'd advise against using that. Raptors are ok and can be used very effectively its just that they're a little pricy for what they do, although they are some of the coolest models.
In my experience, Raptors are amazing HTH monsters! With jetpacks, they motor along quick, and they get to pack powerful special weapons like plasma and melta guns. If they win in combat, you will be able to make your opponents squad flee like little fairies with their crazy Visage power. If they lose, you can always Hit and Run to a more viable target. Definetely worth checking out, IMHO.
I am personaly partial to Zerkers on bikes, its a great way to get Deamons summed where you want them and also very good for tieing up more expensive squad, IE Its hard for that SM heavy weapon squad to nuke my defiler if they are duking it out with my bikes. but thats just my humble opinoin.

I am constantly amazed at how well my raptors perform. I usually give them 3 flamers and then unleash the pain!
I have also used packs of furies to punishing effect.
I'll use the raptors when I have the points to spare and the furies when I don't.
but they only have a 5+ armour save...if they don'y win the assault they are crunchy critters. Also they haven't got that much of a chance against anything in armour but they are cheap(ish)...Originally Posted by brogin
I am thinking of having a nightlord army, so raptors seem to be in theme. What veteran skills do you give them. I am partial to infiltrate and then I guess it is a tossup between the mark of chaos undivided or furious charge. Why do you rate raptors over a chosen champion with demonic speed or combat bikers who get more attacks and an invulnerable save if they turbo boost and are tougher?Originally Posted by Joker
Well, I only usually use a squad of 5 or 6 raptors when I employ the 3 flamer attack. Which leaves the squad able to defend itself or finish off what they flame, but not powerful enough to take on big targets in hth. Although I have had a 5 man triple flamer squad with aspiring champ with twin lightning claws flame then decimate the remains of a 20 man squad of ork shoota boys then catch and destroy them!
But because I use my raptors in this way I almost never give them furious charge. I will give them infiltrate and undivided mark. Infiltrate is self explanatory due to the way I use them, but the undivided mark is generally only because of the small size of the squad I want to give them every opportunity to remain on the board after losing a man or 2.
The chosen with speed are ok, but still vulnerable to terrain as are the bikers, and with the inability for either chosen or bikers to field that 3rd special weapon, plus the bikers can't shoot anything or charge anything when they turbo boost. So while bikers can get into position quickly, they only become effective the round after they do so. I prefer making the shooting phase of every round count as much as possible. I can't control terrain, but with the raptors, I can ignore it. And you would be surprise just how little is left of an enemy squad after being subjected to 3 flamer templates!
Most of my opponents dismiss a 3 flamer raptor squad as not being a high priority target during their shooting phase (until they feel the burn! hehe) which adds to it's ability to do it's job at least once during the game. But they absolutely take it personal if I put 3 meltas or 3 plasma in the squad! (hehe I wonder why?)
The ideal situation is to destroy the enemy squads or make them run in the shooting phase! I like to only engage in hth when I am confidant of winning, or when I need to 'hide' my raptors from enemy fire during his shooting phase.
When I do use bikers I usually make them elites in my Undivided army and give them the mark of Slaanesh and give them all sonic blasters! They are awefully damn expensive pointswise, but they are rock solid shooters with decent range and absolute monsters in hth!
