You could easily use nurglings but depending on the legion and how much money you want to bow you cud get some archive stuff like millisaurs from necromunda to represent 'more nurglesque' nurglings, or ripper jacks for tzeentchian LatD armies. There's loads of stuff you could use for inspiration on the archive sections on the GW site, check around there.
I had a rather odd idea for mine. I used arms and heads from the zombie sprue and glued the head to the shoulder area, made them look like somekind of demonic worm.
If you use plague zombies, or zombie parts for your mutants, you probably have some leftovers. Get a couple of swarm size bases (40mm diameter, I think) and create some zombies rising from the grave.
Or, you could mount zombie heads on hands or feet, it'd look really chaotic... basically, go nuts with leftoverbits from different sprues.
I used snotlings, painted an ashy grey to llok all extra dead zombie fied, thats just me though
