Hi I'm new to 40k but have been playing fantasy for a long time. I chose to do an Emperors Children army as I love Slaanesh in fantasy and sonic weaponry sound really cool.
What I would like to know is are the models I already have sufficient for a decent army. The models I currently have are:
6x Mounted daemonettes
8x Noise marines
First read the tactica's written about the EC, it will help a lot.
Your quite on a good ay although make the nose marine sqauds into 6 or a multiple of that and get more noise marines in your army.
With deamon prince do yo mean the deamonprince model from GW cause if so get the EC lord first, a deamon prince in small battles is a huge waste of points.
I agree, if you're just starting you'll want to start with a smaller force, which will not fare well with a 200 point Monstrosity who will die to small arms fire from the whole of the enemy force because he's so big. A low cost Lieutenant about 80-100 points would be the best bet. The EC Lord model is really cool too, another reason to go for one.
As for the rest, daemonettes and noise marines are a good solid start, but mounted daemonettes are nowhere near as good in 40k as they are in fantasy. I would suggest dropping them, they rarely perform any better than their standard counterparts. They're still choppy in CC but still get shot to bits once they're finished mincing things up. I'd get more noise marines. They are expensive (both £ and points) but they'll fare much better.
I'm a new EC player, too. One thing I've noticed is that this board doesn't have an Emperor's Children Tactica. I have no idea why... they have tactica for just about every other Chaos army.
Therefore, here's the best online tactica I've found for Emperor's Children. It's written by CJ Cummings, the name most associated with Emperor's Children strategy today. I hope it helps.
About your current troops: Remember, your daemonettes have to be summoned. Which means, you probably need at least one assault (close combat) squad, equipped with an appropriate Chaos Icon, to get those girls into battle. A Noise Marine squad is typically a tactical or shooting squad (players with more experience correct me if I'm wrong here), so you'll want a seperate group going in for assaults. Your Prince could be used for this purpose, but I wouldn't gamble on him having your only Chaos Icon (if he's even equipped with one).
Does that make any sense? I'm pretty new to this too, so you may want to confirm all this.
The reason why there is no Slaanesh tactica is because the old Slaanesh tactica was a discussion, unlike the others which were articles. Someone was going to type the discussion into an article, but it doesn't look like anyone has. If any old veterans are interested the topic is still on the boards. It's down a couple of pages, and is about 5 pages long from memory.
Beasts of Chaos (4000)
Chaos Marines (3000)
Yeah, that was really good when you could find it. It did used to be a pinned thread, but I guess that changed when they switched boards. It was huge, probably why noone mae it into an article. And the fact that it was in a random order and had people making comments for god knows how many posts. I'd suggest having a look at it anyway, it's a great help for newbie players.
