All right, i have decided to restart chaos again, i used to play IW, but got really bored with them. I want to play with something new and fresh in terms of chaos. I have a few ideas of what i want to play. I need your guys help with selecting a new chaos army for me, i wanna know the upsides and downsides to the legion. I do not wanna play Iron Warriors, nor Khorne, everything else is fine with me. My play styles are as follow, i love close combat, but do not like pure CC, I still like having my few Bolter wielding fallen brothers. I do not like to relie heavily on daemons neither, a few squads will sefice, say 2. and i wanna play a legion few others play as well. I played IW before they had any special rules, but followed the fluff i could fined, but now that there are many legions to play with i wanna know which one you guys thinks suits me the best. Thank you in advance....
Well.....i'd say Slaanesh, though they're also the legion I know least about.
But, as far as I can remember, their demons are sickeningly good in CC, they can shoot well with noise marines and have an array of nasty wargear.
But I play Nurgle, so don't quote me.

i have to agree with Cypher-, i read your post thought slaneesh then read my thoughts in Cypher-s posts! perhaps dont have a emperors children slanessh cult, have a undivided army with slaneeshi elites + deamons. can slanesh have bikers?? they would be cool if they could. charge in extra attack and +1T.
you could use a nurgle army, they are close range, plasma guns and bolters, true grit giving +1A and with the +1T they are well hard. Nurgle and slanesh are at opposites though in Fluff so you possibly could not use them together. try some cult termies, slaneeshi termies with blastmasters! or Nurgle with ........ Hardness and they might be a bit smellyer?
Furies have always appealed to me, they are fast and hitty.
I would suggest Night Lords, as they are completely different to IW. Where IW are hard hitting and slow, NL can be fast and maneuverable. However, the only demons they can use are furies!
It's already been suggested, but I agree: go Undivided with Slaanesh elements!
You can remain Undivided even if you give you Lord or Prince the mark of Slaanesh!
That way your Slaanesh elements also count as non-elites!
You can still field obliterators!
Slaanesh blastmaster havocs are real crowd pleasers! ^_^
You don't need to use deamons but if you did Slaanesh has some of the coolest.
And yes, Slaanesh can have bikers. I have a 10 man unit of Slaanesh bikers all with sonic blasters! They cost a stupid number of points to field (I rarely get to use all 10) [and they cost a stupid amount of money to purchase and give all sonic blasters too!] but damn they ROCK! They have a turbo boost invulnerable, extra toughness, can fire 3 shots at 24' if they don't move or 2 shots if they do, plus charge into combat after shooting because the sonic blaster's an assault weapon AND they lower the opponents initiative by 1 Plus they are fearless!!
What's not to love about that?!

Alpha Legion all the way.
Hardly anybody plays them, they can only summon deamons through cultists, they get cheap infiltrate so can charge quickly and also start games within bolter range.
Go for Alpha Legion!
what is this turbo boost??
oh wow, have a possesed cult!!! Daemons as troops. Dp leader, 3 elities choices of full possesed with the icons to summon the daemons. lots of possesed Vechiles with possesions and mutated hull n stuff. it will be a converters dream. :o
The army got lost in the warp, a storm hit there ship and possesed all of the marines now they serve chaos and they are EVIL HAHAHAHAH.
could use chaos m,arines or just normal marines as the basis for the conversions. have a defilled banner with the command squad, with the eye stalk from the old spawn model poking out!!!
thank you all for your suggestions but i think i hav eofund my Legion, i may have said not too many daemons, but i was reading through my friends chaos codex and saw them, the very red and silver of chaos, Word Bearers. i like there combat doctrine as well and i don't have to use daemons, lots of chaos marines work as well, plus i like there color scheme, very intersting and it stands away from the iron warriors and Dark angels. I will research more fluff on them and what not, i will use daemons, because they seem to be a little better than before in the newer codex, i ahd the really really old one lol. thanks for your suggestions though. theres a few reasons i wouldn't start slaneesh, i'm not found of pink, it looks cool, but i just don't like pink. and the noise weapons aren't all what there cracke dup to be lol. gonna go out and buy 2 boxes of CSM and the new space amrine commander box set and convert the hell out of it into a dark apostle using the extra bits my friend gave me and my chaos bits from warhammer fantasy.
Just be careful with all-marine Word Bearers. They can get very boring very quickly if you don't put some variety into how they work. But the good thing is that if you get bored with all-marines you can just throw in some daemons to mix it up a bit and it'll be like playing a completely different army.
Beasts of Chaos (4000)
Chaos Marines (3000)
Use some of the bits from witch hunters models for conversions, like fire and the braziers. they would be cool, making them look a bit gothicy and devoted to the chaos gods.
