Its preety tough discussion. As both are favoured by their gods. I would say Lucius has the better combat ability. But typhus carries the strongest diseases. Even if lcius dies, slannish may try to have him take over typhus's body, bt then it will be a duel gainst the 2 gods themselves, both not letting theri favorued die.

I agree. Much chance involved. All down to the dice. But if you mean in the 40k universe and not in the actual game then I would say Typhus would win. He can't feel any of the effects of the lash whip thing, he's tougher, has plague all over him, and Grandfather Nurgle (his patron) is a stronger god. Slaanesh is like the younger brother of the gods.Originally Posted by Namkcor
In game terms, here's what they have equal:
- They are both hitting each other on 4's
- They are both wounding each other on 4's
- Strikes first
- Has one more attack
- Better Invulnerable save
- Can hit Lucius on 3s if he uses a psychic power
- Has Nurgle Rot on crack, psychic powers that can deal extra wounds
- Extra wound
Assuming that they both start off in combat, given this, I think Lucius would win a good portion of the time. His having more attacks and striking first are a benefit, but his big bonus is the 4+ invulnerable save. Not too sure that Typhus can stand up to that. However, if Lucius fails those Nurgle Rot armour saves he may be in for a world of trouble. I'd probably go Lucius over Typhus about 60-65% of the time.
What would definitely tip the scales is if Lucius charged, but stayed 2 inches away. That way he gets 5 power weapon attacks on the first turn, and Typhus would be unable to strike back until the next turn.
Beasts of Chaos (4000)
Chaos Marines (3000)
Fluff wise Typhon would more than likely maim him good haha. Lucius was nasty in close combat but he isnt all that great since he's been killed at the very least a hundred and odd times judging by the amount of faces on his armour and by commanders we dont even know. The only thing he has going for him is the 'taking over of the killer's body thing', if ever slannesh finds someone better its over for Lucius, period. Typhon maims alls; superb resilience, also nasty in CC and the backing of Father Nurgle. who can beat that. Typhon would spit on Lucius and he would die.
In terms of typhus' benefits you forgot one vital element! The manreaper!
Psychic-Construct of the Codex necromancers design team
Books of the Imperium;
29. Thou shalt not use they bolter to kill bees.
74. Thy shalt not tip the Terminators over during battle.
manreaper, even fluffwise, won't hurt a single person anymore though... the only good thing about a scythe is its really long, wide blade. otherwise itsbig and cumbersome.
i say fluffwise lucius should win. he should be much faster than typhus so could dodge out of the way much better...
Although it's quite diffucult to dodge this huge **** off scythe thats swinging all over the place.
Also, he has Nurgling infestation. Set the Nurglings on Lucius!!
Fluff wise, Lucius would probably take Typhus to within an inch of his life then catch Nurgles rot and be re-born into the service of Nurgle....
But game wise....ill have to check it out. *gets dice box out*
You have to make it into base-to-base contact to charge. Otherwise, no attacks, and you don't move, since it is classified as a failed charge. Either way, if one IC can attack another IC, then the other IC will be able to attack back, since they must be in base-to-base to participate in combats at all.Originally Posted by Tones
I'd actually like to see Typhus win, just because he looks like he would. Gigantic scythe, bestially large and just oozing and rotting all over the place...he's a tough candidate. As far as the stats for the characters go, though, I'd give it to Lucius in a majority of cases. Striking first is huge in IC combat, especially when everything else is so even.
Okey dokie. I think Id like to point out something everyone here seems to have forgotten when it comes to lucius. he has combat drugs. and IMHO one of the best pieces of wargear out there. so not only is lucius attacking first but he has potentially a higher WS then typhus, a potentially higher S then typhus's T, potentially an extra attack above what his martial pride effect has him at and he can ignore the first wound in cc that isnt an instagib hit. Lucius has all these AND the benifits previously stated as well over typhus. in games terms he wins quite a bit more then typhus.
fluff wise. eh, It'd be about equal I think. Nurgle may be an older god but the fact that Slaanesh has invested so much more power into his champion with the armor of shrieking souls says to me that, nurgle even if hes more powerful, would probably just cut his losses find a new champion if this one didnt work out and beat down the younger chaos god at a later date when he least expects it causeing far more damage to slaanesh in the process then loosing a mere champion. but thats just my opinion.
hrmmm lets work out some in game statistics. I dont feel like adding in the slight possibility that lucius will OD on his drugs rolls but this will give you a general idea of how the fight would go.
lucius takes +1 S, +1 A, and ignore first unsaved wound. No one charges
lucius inflicts 1.3333 wounds to typhus
typhus inflicts .5 wounds to lucius
nurgling infestation deals .3888 wounds to lucius
making a grand total of .8888 wounds to lucius in CC and lucius ignores the first making it 0
nurgles rot deals .3333 wounds to lucius in shooty phase
so on average lucius should walk away with a win in three turns after taking a single wound from the uber nurgles rot. on average at least. and theres a VERY slight chance lucius drops dead during the fight due to OD and a greater chance but still slight that he takes an extra wound from a minor OD.
