Tommorow night I am playing a dark eldar army (1500 points) in a sabotage mission.
I am a chaos player and can feild more or less any leigion.
I was thinking of going for plauge marines round the objective (with deamons in support)
and a big squad of bikes in reserve to counter attack.
My apponant will probobly field 2 X raiders full of whitches and 2 X tooled up HQ's.
The chances are he will he in close combat by turn 2!
Any suggestions of an effective close combat squad against DA?
Plauge marines are tough but hit last, zerkers loose an attack against whitches, emps kids hit at same time, possesed seem quite good.....what do u guys use for going toe to toe with DA?
-take out the raiders as fast as possible and make them walk across the feild.
-heavy bolters chew apart wyches and warriors
-shoot the raiders
-shoot the HQ
-shoot the warriors
-did i say shoot the raiders?
- then when you get in combat, rely on relilience of the plague marines
-tool up your lord with a manreaper and watch the heads roll!!!!
i have played against dark eldar many times.
maybe infiltrate a unit of havoks with 4 melta guns to bust up the raiders quick.
remember, they have to come to you, if you drop some daemons/deepstrike/infiltrate something behind them, they will have some serious problems.
i prob wont get a turn to shoot! ( i wish i did!)
dark eldar squads on radiers with fllet of foot then a charge is 24 inches!
I dont want to invest points in a gun that fires once ( and with my luck probobly misses!)
Plauge marimes it is then!!! is that extra point of toughness better then hitting at the same time do you think ? or getting an extra Attack?
thanks for the great tip! i am going to infiltrate ALOT of stuff in front of the deployment zone as speed bumps so I WILL be able to counter attack! COOL!!!
Its 26" maximum actually with 21" averageOriginally Posted by Black Katalyst

Well bear in mind that he's not going to charge your entire army at once - how about playing alpha legion and then using cultists? You could make a ring or several concentric rings around the objective with your CSM in the middle, or standing on the objective. Bear in mind DE don't like being shot at at all, especially with boltguns, due to the low toughness, so just max out on boltguns and also plasma weapons may be useful. Bear in mind that due to the thin armour that all DE vehicles have, boltguns will be threatening to them, and plasma weapons will seal the deal. A havoc squad with missile launchers will be useful to kill things like wyches with frag and incubi with frag. With the entanglement rules, dark eldar are at a great hindrance if their vehicles are destroyed, as this will entangle them and make them vulnerable to heavy gunfire for one turn. Kai guns may also be useful for killing incubi and blasting vehicles. Really you don't want to bother with anything like an uber daemon prince or greater daemon - most of his sybarites and his lord will probably be equipped with agonisers, which will tear a big hole in your big, multi wound stuff with ease.
The only difference between tattooed people and non-tattooed people is that tattooed people are awesome and can kick your ass.

If you hit CC, you will have issues.
I'd say stay away from plague marines as well, as they cannot weild heavy bolters, thusly when their time comes they are simply an expensive roadblock.
If I had my choice, I'd go with Slaaneshi marines + A terminator fire base
5 Terminators with sonic blasters and 2 of those with blast masters will put a severe hurting on a DE squad outside of it's transport. They will lay waste rather easily to most transport units as well. They are a bit on the costy side though, so keep them away from darklances. Ofcourse, if they do indeed hit CC, all is not lost, as you can hit them simultaniously.
Since you don't need an awfully hard hit to knock them down (raiders that is) you could very easily go for 2 squads of ML toting havoks and cause some serious...uh..havok. Once their raider is down (and it will go down) the troops inside make excellent targets for fragging, as their armour is largely duct tape and cardboard.
Failing that and you still would like to have a pretty nice sized squad of plague marines, 2 plasma guns +8 other marines sitting on the objective is a good way to put the "er..I hope I get the charge" spirit into the DE.
