Well I was wondering if this Dreadnaught configuration would work against the little horrors!!
Twin Linked Heavy Bolter
Now if I rolled a 6 for Fire Frenzy I worked out that it could lay 6 template and 6 HB shots in one turn, to me that equals lots of dead nids!!!

I would think that a twin linked autocannon and heavy flamer would be good for dealing with any and all bugs. But for just swarm handling then I would say twin linked h. bolters and a heavy flamer. Followed by charging into cc of course...
That again is quite a nice configuration, however the one I suggested was more a stand back and let fly model, not a burn and bash model!!
Well then it's just a disagreement in playing styles. I prefer to get all up in their face. No matter who they are. Yes I'll shoot the hell out of them first, but make no mistake that they will be charged shortly after. To each his own my friend.
Indeed!! I'm just a little sore from the last time I got up close and personal with my cousins nid army. 35 genestealers, 1 Broodlord and 3 lictors in 1500pts, you can imagine what the genestealers where like!!!!
Hence why i'm shooty!!!
Heres my Anti-Nid Dread
-2 Close Combats(with combi-bolters)
All up in their face indeed
PS: Gingerninja, I feel you, I'm in the same exact position... Cept my cuz usually has a CC tyrant biovors and a carnifex
You Can't Stop the Eighp
Had Tzeentch before I knew how to play :P
Well, I found that Tzeentch dedicated dreads work wonders on Tyranids, as each one of them takes a hit before they strike in CC.
SO I would suggest:
Havoc Missile Launcher
Once this guy does into Fire Frenzy, it will kill anything in sight, and it does not fear CC.
Well, as a 'Nid player. The weapons that I hate more than any other is flamer type weapons. For the most part, 'Nids NEED cover saves, and, well flamers ignore them. I have long ago lost track of the number of dead gaunts and stealers caused by me not noticing the flamer sneaking up on me.

Just a correction, it's coruscating flame. I'm just warning you because i got pulled up at a tournament for writing the wrong thing - they threatened to disqualify me because of "deceptive wargear".-Causicating Flame
I have to say, that stand back and unload dreadnought is nasty, because it has the abilities to wound big nasties like carnifexes and hive tyrants.
My dreadnought which i'd use against nids (which i currently use against GUARD, of all things) is:
Basically, i don't like making him too powerful unless he's survivable(mutated hull), and the missile launcher and havoc launcher give him the power to kill small troops or light vehicles, while the lascannon and missile launcher can pack a punch against light and heavy vehicles, assuming he's moving of course. If he's not moving, I just blow the hell out of anything i see. I never give him two CCWs any more, not after my twin CCW dreadnought fire-frenzied and killed my daemon prince with eight combi-bolter shots! :o At least if he dies now, I can say he died to something respectable, even if he was killed by an allied dreadnought.
The only difference between tattooed people and non-tattooed people is that tattooed people are awesome and can kick your ass.
