Alright, i have 2 boxes of iron warrior space marines and Im interested wich would be the best way to put these men into units. Should i have 3 units or 2 units. I need to have 2 troop squad the minimal for compolsary, and i have access to these weapons, 2 lascannons, 2 heavy bolters, 2 plasma guns, 2 flamers, many bolters, and 8 normal close combat weapons, 2 power fists, 2 plasma pistols and i can also get of my freinds extra possesed peices ( the arms and faces and stuff.) I can't make up my mind on how to set them up, this is due to the fact that im still new. I play against dark eldar and soon maybe necrons or blood angles. My biggest threat right now is the talos and a raider with an hq and the retinue of the dark eldar.
Personally I would use 2 squads of 8. One would be a fire support squad. The support squad having bolters, a plasma gun, and lascannon. (If it doesn't fit your points switch the lascannon for a missle launcher.) The other squad would be a cc squad with bolt pistols cc weapons, and assault weapons. Maybe 2 meltaguns. I'd give both champs powerfists. It's a personal opinion but I'd give the cc squad infiltrate. That way you can set up close to his dangerous vehicles (talos, raider) and destroy them with the 2 meltas. Shoot em' up with the other units in your army (support squad included) and charge the rest. The structure of the squads depends on who your facing but this set up is my favorite because it performs well in almost every situation.
I wouldn't think it such a bad idea to run both squads as fire support. If it was close combat you needed you would have gone with world eaters.

numberofthebeastxxx hit the nail on the head.
chaos space marines are extremely versitile as long as each unit has a set goal.
-both champions get power fists and bolt pistols
--champs are nice for combat no matter the role of the squad, the power fist is good for instant deaths, montrous creatures, armor, etc
-one squad gets CCW's and BP's with meltas and infiltrate
-- it would be nice to infiltrate them so they can take out tanks first turn, maybe also give them move through cover, comes in real handy
-the other squad gets lascannon and plasma gun, the rest have bolters.
--this squad is part of the Iron Warriors fire base, the key here is range, keep them away from the enemy and keep shooting as the other sqaud runs around behind their lines
against dark eldar
-shoot the raiders and make your enemy walk towards you
-lascannons and missile and powerfists against the talos
-try to box them in, they use speed to win, if you take that away, they are at a severe disadvantage
also, if IW are goning to be your main army, invest in some tanks, maybe a predator or defiler or basilisk. your heavy choices are important.
Alright thanks, ya i already have a defiler with is stock and has parisitic possetion and indirect fire. I dont have meltas thought, should i take a plasma gun and flamer for the cc squad? or should i try to invest in atleast one melta and the other will be a plasma gun. Im guessing the cc squad will go with my hq.
The fact is, if i get a blister with 2 melta marines could i just break the squad of 8 by adding 2 more guys and having 2 squads with lascannons and plasma guns wich woudl be 5 CSM- units, and one 8 CSM- unit with with cc weapons and 2 meltas. And these would go with me HQ.
I have a question also about parisitic possetion , is it worth the points? and how does it work, is it just on the turn the defiler gets destroyed i can try to repear, or does the modle stays on the field and i have a few chances to repear?

when using the defiler, make sure that it is completely hidden or else it will be shot down in 1 or 2 turns. Its a very large target, making it easier seen by most enemy squads on the board. I personally favor the drednaught over the defiler. i wouldnt have a defiler myself but the indirect fire is very effective.
Personally I use dem. mutation or indirect fire on defilers. NO! Don't take a plasma gun in a cc squad. As it is a rapid fire weapon you would not be able to charge into cc. Which would defeat the whole purpose of an assault squad. Keep the meltas in the cc squad. You could do that set up, with an 8-man cc squad and two 5-man support units. I personally never use units that small but I know some generals would disagree with me. Ok your mis-reading the parasitic possesion. It only works for "immobilised" and "weapon destroyed" effects. If the defiler gets destroyed then it's destroyed it does not come back. But if you recieve "immobilised" or "weapon destroyed" results you can roll a die to try and repair either one on a 4+ at the end of your turn.Originally Posted by PUR1F1ER
an effective combo is
an 8 man cc squad with 2 meltas, champ w/ power fist
and 2 squads of 5 with lascannon and plasma gun
its a cheap way to get more guns in your army, but also may work against you with units killing them fisrt round and using sweeping advance to hurry through your lines.
