Okay, here's the deal. I play an 1000-2000 point undivided army. I like it alot, but I want a new army, i was going to do orks, but I had a change of heart. So I'm going to continue serving the ruinous powers with my new army. Now I've always been a fan of CC, So I would like to do a pure Khorne army. They have really good equipment and all, but I have a friend that already plays them and alot of people seem to play them and alot of people say khorne is cheezy and not that tactical. I dont want to sit there rolling dice and win the game with out putting thought into it. I'd also like to make a Death Guard army. Probably lead by typhus after 1500 points. Death guard seem like a good all around, infantry based army with cool upgrades, true grit and what not. But I simply cannot decide. Also Im on a budget and khorne bezekerers come in a pack of 12 for 30 bucks and death guard come in a pack of 7 for 35, So I dont know. there's also the fact that i already have a blood thirster in my undivided army. Maybe you guys could help me decide?
Should I go with the unique, more tactical death guard, or the cc based, more affordable world eaters?

1) Colour normal marines Green...There's your plaugemarines.
Deathguard can take a beating. T5 means you can stand toe to toe with marines, simply exchange bolter fire, and win...Also means that when you get into CC you have a VERY strong advantage.
Against other things, like Eldar, the T5 really comes into play. Their banshee's require alot to even wound you, so do scorpians...then they need the armour test. Reapers take longer to wear you down..etc.
but khorne are butchers. simple as that. it depends on what you prefer, endurance and defence or speed and attack.
if you are fighting marines id reccomend khorne because that 3+ shifted to 4+ is a huge difference.
I really can't think of anything witty to say.
Khorne is great and fun to play. But I got out of playing my WE mostly for the reasons you stated above. You could go DG or make up your own army worshipping nurgle and still use the DG rules. That'd be cool/unique. If your budget is a little tight then go browsing through ebay. Usually you can get a great deal on a bunch of stuff. Check out the armies tactica articles on this website and you'll be able to get a better feel for their playing styles. That should help you decide too. Hope I was of some help.
If I were you, I'd add a squad of Khorne bezerkers and a squad of plague marines to your excisting army, play a few games and see what unit you prefer.
If you pick the Death Guard (my personal favorite), forget the metal models, the regular plastic chaos marines work just fine with a little greenstuff added, plus it gives you a more unique force.
The two are fundamentally different.
Khorne is a purely - Move forward fast army. They rely mainly on the ability to close in and sodamize the enemy via chainaxe....They're pretty durable all in all with their enhanced saves, but to be honest, any time I've played them they've been cut down by my plasma/bassy fire too quickly to really make a huge difference.
Deathguard are more a less slowly advancing units. With true grit and deamonic res, they will take a beating in CC and deliver alot of pain. If they are charged it makes little difference, as they will still get 2 attacks all the way thru. The downside is that you're going to be light on the anti-tank..Which means nurgle dreads.
My Nurgle list would be like this in a 1k point game
Hq - 100 ish
30xMarines - 570
-Smattering of plasma
Keep em moving up the feild, make sure those dreads stay healthy. If you figure you'll be playing against something big and nasty (read - Nids) you can take a unit of plague bearers. Throw them at the Fex to slow/wound it, their toughness means nothing. Nurglings are also excellent for tying things up. See that unit of assault marines? Charge them with your nurglings...They won't be doing much for the rest of the game. That annoying HQ selection? Charge them. They just won't be able to kill enough of the little things to get out of CC and it effectively takes them out of the game.
Yeah, Im going to do a DG army I think, I'll devise a list sooner or later. Thanks guys.
