I am wondering whether it would be good to have a chaos lord that can kill a unit the turn it assaults them.
To me, it sounds like he would then be shot to pieces.
Would it be better to have a less tooled lord in order to stay in combat during your opponents turn?
How would you go about doing this? I'm thinking pw & bp, DResilience, DEssence, DAura, DSpeed.
No theres not a Deamonic Gift for Intitive, but the chaos lord has I5 still pretty high methinks.. A manreaper(see book of nurgle) would work much better, positblity of 9 attacks  nice!!! That could wipe out a unit!!!
By day he fought with sword and shield.....
By night he fought with pen and parchment.....
He was....The Warrior Poet.......
Fear the ANZAC Clan!!!!!
ORDER OF THE SHADOWY FLAME!!!
Do you have uber micro...????
Why dont you get De. Mutation? An extra attack would never hurt...
As for wiping out an entire unit in one turn, look no farther then Khorne , my friend. With mutation, blood frenzy, and a bezerker glaive you have the ability to make 13 attacks on the charge. Of course, an axe of gives less attacks(to his profile), but on every 6 you roll you get an extra attack, meaning that it is possible to wipe out a huge unit really fast, as long as your luckey or you have loaded dice.
Yeah, you are right. It can be dangerous to whipe out the enemy on your own turn as you are then left completely at the mercy of your opponent. What I have found is that this very problem means that a 100-130 point lord can often be more survivable than a 200+ monstrosity. Sure you can make Khorne lord with over 10 attacks on the charge I6 and str. 8. He will most likely kill any group he charges in one round, but I have found that a more moderate lord with the fairly standard 6-7 attacks on the charge will be more than adequate.Originally Posted by onlainari
Killing a 160 point tactical squad with your 200 point lord who is then subsequently shot to pieces is a bad trade. Charging your 120 point lord into the tactical squad (watch for the hidden powerfist) is much better value for your points. Should he kill them he has already earned his points back, and if he does not you are fairly certain that he will in the other players turn.
Some people love the 200 point monsters you can create. They are fun to play with, and they sure frighten your opponent. I once had a 200 point Khorne Lord who was charged by a 10 man death company with chaplain. Two rounds later my lord had killed them off and lost a wound in the process. But how often are you really gonna fight so expensive and powerful units?
I usually go for a cheaper lord. A 110 point lord will often be 90% as effective as a 200 point lord and will leave you enough points for a tactical squad!
Oh, and by the way. All in all I think my aspiring champions kill much more enemies than my chaos lords, and they are much harder to kill. I usually have aspiring champs with mutation, pistol and power fist. Thats 4 attacks and 5 on the charge with strength 8. And he cannot be singled out in close combat as my lord can so the champ is harder to get down.
Oh, got a little off track here, sorry
It depends, me thinks.
If you're opponent has tightly packed units, then it's not such a gamble to wipe out a unit in a single turn. Chances are you can consolidate into a nearby unit, saving you from any shooting retaliation.
Generally speaking though, most people don't pack their units that close to each other, so it is better to take two turns to wipe out/break a unit. Doing so also ensures you another attack, and bonuses if you have Furious Charge.
no, its good to wipe a unit out right away, because u get a D6 advance this will give u ether anoght to charge the next group in the same turn or to put you in/behind cover.
"Iron within, iron without."
Yeah, if you wipe them out in your opponents turn. What if you've charged, killed everything, then go on to only roll a 1? Leaves you a little bit screwed. If you're going on the offensive you probably wouldn't want to finish off in one round, then if you can next turn (ie your opponent's) then you're all set to go off and charge someone else.
Only problem, hidden powerfists will be a thorn in your side... or a .. fist in your side I guess you could say. Other than that I agree, its better to take 2 turns, and a 100-150 lord will do the job nicely.
I'll tell you from experience, its not nice to be on the reciving end of a 200pt khorne lord, killed a carni all by himself and took out half of my gaunts. Killed him with a ripper though
Genestealers suffer from the same problem, we kill everything and get stranded out tin the open. I saw someone use a basic lord/sorceror, and it stilled worked pretty good. Wargearupgrades only, he used a bodygaurd for survivibility. But thats just my 2 cents.
EVIL ELF RULES ALL!
