I know the answer alot of times is dependant on the army you are facing and what the army composition is, but here is a generic question. I have a word bearers army written up with roughly 108 models heavy CSM, 2 havoc squads and a defiler. But of my daemon choices I am a bit torn. I could go one of two ways
1 squad of 6 Daemonettes & 1 squad of 8 Bloodletters
3 squads of 6 Daemonettes
one gives me a flash group and hard hitting group where as the other gives me 3 flash groups but higher numbers.
if you are looking for some balance against most armies i would bring choice 1, that way you have some flash and some heavy hitters, and you will have something for everybody. If you just bring the flash you'll end up in to many situations where you needed the heavy hitters........cause murphy sux and he will get you everytime lol
I personally love bloodletters. I find there really isn't anything that will do as much damage against MEC units while still staying survivable against all kinds of return attacks. However they are expensive and their abilities are wasted on non power armour troops. Against Orks, gaunts, and such the bloodletters will have a hard time earning their points back.
Deamonettes will do anything you want them to do. Kill hords, kill powerarmour troops, tear down a C'tan or a tank. They don't survive much in return though, so small squads often will not kill enough to prevent return attacks from mauling them.
If you want rock hard MEC killers which will survive for a few fights then bloodletters are great, but you will never really go wrong with deamonettes. I just don't want to paint any of them. It would make me feel really odd.
I'd do daemonettes, survivalibity shouldn't ba problem with that many models.
I just got 8 Bloodletters!! Sweet! Going to rock having these guys popping out of no where.
