Im new to the forum, bt Ive been playing for years.
Recently I made a purchase of 40 CSM (standard) I love their conversion potential
I have 2 boxes of original death guard models,
1 squad of 12 berzerkers
8 nightlord models
8 converted death guards (from regular CSM
the body of a termie Chaos (I used his arms for something else)
an assload of chaos fantasy bits...
I want to make a a deathguard army, but my own spin on one, any creative hints as to what i can do here?
Greenstuff - lots of it. Just take the normal marine and stretch greenstuff over the stomach, sagging from holes drilled in the armour, etc. That will make good stretched skin and bleeding or rotting organs. As for the terminator, you could sculpt him some tentacles instead of arms and maybe use him as a lord/lieutenant. The predator, use the same treatment.
The mutations sprue will work wonders here, especially tentacles. They're very nurgle-esque, as are things like scythes and hammers. Basically, general bloating and drippiness will make them look very nurgleesque.
The only difference between tattooed people and non-tattooed people is that tattooed people are awesome and can kick your ass.

Hello Deltaguard1894 and welcome to the forum
You have lots of things to make a decent Death Guard theme army.
First, the 2 boxes of original death guard models and the 8 converted death guards (from regular CSM) can be used as the core units of your army.
The terminator body can be used as your lord(of course we will need some kind of arms) and the Predator with the bits from the Chaos fantasy sprue can be turned out in a very cool and sweet looking possessed Death Guard Predator. Of course the chaos bits can be used also in the lord like chaos symbols and runes, and your Night Lords Chaos marines (if they have wings on the helmet cut them) can be converted in Death Guard, too easy with a nice paint work. Now with the Berserkers the things are tricky, cause of the dynamic pose dont fit in the Death Guard fluff. They can be used as Possessed Death Guard, or with a heavy conversation can be part of your troops (again with a nice paint work and a more Death Guard look helmets, and by fixing the pose to a more 'standing' look). Anyway hope this will help, and again welcome to LO.
By the way, the Death Guard Tactica can be found here for tips and tactics.

MEAT IS MURDER
Hello Fellow Devotees:
It has begun.
I took your suggestions into consideration, and that termie is now a pretty awesome Chaos Lord of Nurgle every bit as icky as papa nurgle would want.
For those that are interested, heres what I did:
Twas a late night study session readin through cases of contracts and torts (Legal Student In US), and I got tired of reading about civil wrongs and decided to nurgle it up.
I took the headless, armless, terminator husk and a good wad of green stuff, and covered its back and lump (Old school termie model)with a good amount and used a house nail to raise and emboss ridges on the model, I think took several tyranid claws and faces (Heads cut in half, as well as some devourer gun sides, and stuck them in and molded it in so it covers them well and there are no airspots showing.
I then took a powerfisted hand from the reg CSM sprue and used an old 2nd ed warhammer undead wraith Scythe that I had in my bits box and molded it into the powerfisted hand after cutting off the wraith fingers. As so it looks like my lord has just disembowelled a lowly guardsmen.
His other hand is a good assault weapon, a vanilla space marine's flamer, from the space wolf wolfguard models. I filed off the crux terminatus and embossed a really nicely done nurgle symbol I made out of three small washers, green stuff, and some really fragile netting. Its on the shoulder. The flamer is cruddy and scratched up, adding to the nurglesque feature, and finally, on a whim I ghetto rigged a bolter piece to the side of the flamer, making it a combo weapon, although I am not sure if I will use it in that way in game terms.
The shoulder pad on the scythe arm was not to my liking and i got creative, putting several zombie heads and skulls and catachan faces onto a molded piece of green stuff, fitted to cover the exposed connection between the body and the green stuff binding the powerfist arm. So now it looks like a trophy rack, but on the left shoulder pad, and once again i scratched the stuff up to make it seemed pocked and scarred, as well as eliminate any definable lines on the head/shoulder meeting points.
The back and other shoulder pad were stretched with further greenstuff, with tears and gashes to give it a worn look, I also segmented this section near the flamer arm to give it a "shell" like pattern, as if it was scabbing around the badge of nurgle on the flamer arm.
The head was a combination of two things, an ork face, a Fantasy chaos helmet (from the 3rd Ed models, the posable ones before the new standing ones) and a little green stuff to make it mountable, I molded the face of the ork onto the green stuff on the side of the helm, and cut the horns off, putting a tip of one onto the forhead of the helm, in plague bearer fashion.
The legs were molded with some greenstuff to cover the ridges and I got creative with some nercron neon bars, covering all but a small ridge, making it seem that he has some see through leggings that are full of mucous, at first it didnt look all that cool, but dammit, it looks awesome in the end.
My final piece of work was using a banner pole from the chaos warriors (new) sprue and cutting it in half and shoving it into the back of the greenstuff on the hump, and then getting the most scraggly, crappy, dirty looking banner and greenstuffing a nurgle sign on it, as well as mold and all other sorts of goodies... Then I spray painted him black.....
He awaits painting....
He looks bad ass dare I say?
What do you wonderful warhammerers think?
I say we get some pictures of this beast up in here. Sounds great though, you sound very skilled with the Green Stuff.
