Do I need to buy an additional book besides Chaos marine codex and the 40k rulebook to play as deathguard? or are there special rules included in the Chaos codex? The shop in my area is kinda out of the way and I haven't been able to swing by and look. Thanks in advance
Rulebook and Chaos Space Marine Codex is all you will need. The chaos codex has all the special rules for Deathguard.Originally Posted by kellster1
^ thats correct, i would however look into the index astartes as well if you want info on deathguard, fluff, etc, for fielding a full DG army, they are pretty awesome, I am currently making a DG force, models are hella expensive though and im converting regular marines, they actually look a little bit more characterful and with 5 boxes, (40 guys) I get 5 squads of 7 and a havoc quad of 5
Be careful buying the blisters for Sp weapon as GW shafted me and gave me 1 marine and three weapons, no second marine, i was pretty pisse,d specially when online it says 2 per blister, ho hum, i got the bits to make more havocs though
Remember theres no H weapons in the infantry in DG, but the assault weapons more than make up with them, nothing like a melta settin fire to someones leman russ or other expensive big goodie.. They also rock in CC.

Infiltrating havok squad with 4 plasma guns...And they're nurgle marines....That is a huge headache for anything in power armour/spendy units....watch the GK's cry.
There are rules in the Daemonhunter codex for us as well. Including special rules I believe.
I'm not sure what other armies your facing, but if they happen to be facing shooty armies, and you are taking 2x plasma guns in your basic troopies, I find it is very nice to upgrade my A.C. to carry a plasma pistol. Against shooty armies I usually advance on them, instead of sitting back and firing, so the 24" range of my plasma guns doesn't come in to play very often. My entire army infiltrates as well, so by the second round (sometimes the first), I am moving 6" then firing plamsa guns within 12" of my enemy's really expensive termis or H.Q. squad. Having a plasma pistol doubles my shots and gives a troop squad (w/ 2x plasma guns) the firepower of a 4x plasma havoc squad. Of course, most people would suggest you use 2x melta guns in your basic troops, but I have to deal w/ a genestealer rush, which also makes a plasma pistol very effective.
