Firstly.. chop all the ammo related components off.. To hide this fact, you might want to replace them with a tube/cannister of some kind. Metal guitar wire makes extremely good tubing of this kind.
Secondly, get rid of the barrel.. a meltagun has a very distinctive large barrel. I'm not sure how to make it, myself, but you could try cylindrical sprue cuttings or something of that nature.
I thought the CSM box came with a meltagun.. Hmm.. if you're happy spending some money (but not $60) I'd suggest checking the prices of loose individual meltaguns used on some other models.. I think necromunda, if nothing else, has a few loose meltaguns somewhere in the range.
You can also go to your local hobby shop and pick up a wooden dowel that is approximately the same diameter as the melta gun canister. Cut the dowel down to the size of the canister and add paint. This works pretty well. You can also cover any of the cut marks with green stuff and paint accordingly.
The Raptros comes with a specialweapon sprue, you can order it separaterly I think.
