Does a statured lord w/the glaive make more sense in a list that has a lascannon pred and an autocannon pred w/their appropriate sponsons?
Seems like the landspeeders and the bikes can be taken care of this way.
Also, what gifts make sense on a glaived lord?Just looking for some input.
It really depends on what your army looks like. While bikes can be managed quite well with a pred, the landspeeders really need to be taken down with something else. I never like firing a lascannon at a landspeeder, when an auto-cannon is respectable at taking them down.Originally Posted by Ikeaboy
If you're going to have a statured prince w/ a glaive, then you really don't have to tool him up much more. Give him D. str, D. resilience, feel no pain, collar of Khorne. You might consider essence if you're going up against a ranged army w/ lots of high strength, low a.p. weapons.

It really depends on the rest of your list. My first inclination would be to say the autocannon predator, however, simply because your lord will be able to handle most things you'd normally want to use the lascannon against, but certainly not everything. But I think autocannons are highly overrated. Any anti-infantry capabilities it has are matched, if not beaten by the heavy bolter and any anti-vehicle capabilities it has are matched, if not beaten by the lascannon. It's only really useful as an anti-light vehicle weapon.
Finally, a berserker glaive is a two-handed weapon, so he wouldn't get any benefits from having a second close combat weapon (although I suppose you could still give him one).
All good advice, except that it's not good to rely on a glaived prince to take down what you want him to. He's just too darn unpredictable. I can gurarantee the oppoents will throw other things in the way of the prince, before allowing their vehicles to get slaughtered.Originally Posted by grimmtu
That's certainly true, the best strategy you can really get out of a guy with the berserker glaive is "CHARGE!" Just throw him at your enemy and let him do what he does best. All good advice, except that it's not good to rely on a glaived prince to take down what you want him to. The only units in my 1000 point list besides the two Preds w/Mutated Hull and the Statured Lord are 3 units of Berserkers, all w/Powerfisted champs and Chainaxes.
For 1500 ,I'm thinking 2 units of Possessed w/Talons,then at 1850,maybe a Defiler,w/more Berserkers

For your 1500 build, don't overlook bloodletters. Point for pound they will deal out more damage than your possessed to most other armies. They are also cheaper than possessed, and you won't have to worry about getting them to the battlefront. Bikers are also good options.Originally Posted by Ikeaboy
I wasn't really looking for a list critique.I was just wondering what anyone thought of this basic strategy of having fire support for a Glaived Lord.
Most of the arguments that I've heard against the Glaive have to do with fast vehicles leading the Lord around. If you have a couple of dedicated ranged vehicle hunters on the table, this should compensate,no?
Yes, that will work to take down fast attack vehicles. However, space marines often have 4-6 landspeeders in 3 squads. Landspeeders are hard enough to take down, not to mention 6 of them, that you will need much more ranged support than just a pred or two.
Or in a worse case you're being led around by a falcon that is either going to point blank shoot your lord, brought you into D-cannon range, or brought you into range of dark reapers who are about to unload on you. Even in melee with land speeders is a bad situation, three speeders could drop 21 shots at your lord, they'd have to hit and wound but that's a lot of fire power. Not to mention the fact that you actually have to get that far first. With the glaive you can be singled out, expect lots of anti armor fire coming your way.
I can read now!
