    Night lords

hello i was looking to start a 40k army and i liked the idea of night lords because of their fast attack capabilities. however someone told me that there were faults with it now that the new rule book came out and the errata and faqs... can someone please tell me if they are still a valid army, if no, why and how? thanks

Always a good idea to take what someone tells you with a grain of salt. Night Lords are still plenty legal. They're one of the better specialist Legions that Chaos has to offer, both fluff and practicality wise.

They are still fully legal to use in 4th edition, they didn't loss anything or get any penalties, seems like that guy was pulling your leg.

Yeah, I think that the Nightlords have one of the coolest backrounds, If your interested, you should read the book Nightlord.....Its really good. I was reluctant to start an army with them becuase of the lack of heavy weapons...'tis why I started IQ instead

ahh... i'd love to read some of the books but the difficulty is getting my hands on them  but i shall read them some day. umm another question what would the suggested elites be for night lords, termies or oblitorators? i like the night lord champion that you get from gw, i'd use him as my lord if i give him a few mods.

In the battles I've played, Obliterators were far more useful than Terminators.
Just try to keep them out of sight of the things they are not shooting themselves.
Hide them between terrain pieces, and slowly move them forwards.
I mostly use those guys on the flanks, since most armies are set up with almost everything having LoS to the center of the board. That way, you can set them up next to some thrashed building, denying most enemy tanks LoS the first 2 turns. By that time, you have killed half of them with the nice move-and-fire ability.
(Obliterators are pretty much firemagnets, so be carefull with them)
    Hope that helps!
Chaos does not need explaining! guess what? Chaos cannot be explained!

Possesed are elite right...or chosen? Elite choices are hard for Night Lords, doesnt really go with the overall theme of the army...maybe obliterators 'casue the lack of heavy weapons....

cool thanks that advice will be very helpfull. so oblitorators and treat them like a big nid or a tank in terms of tactics(hide away from it unless you are shooting at it).

thanks again, it is much appreciated

Just to clarify that. Possessed Chaos Space Marines are elite, and you can have normal Chaos Marines as elites with better stats, they called Chosen Chaos Marines. The best elites choise for Night lords are Possessed, Chosen or Terminators, I am speaking fluff wise cause Night Lords dont spend too much time in the Eye of Terror or in the Maelstorm to be fused with daemons.
