I'm new to the boards and I'm looking for some advice.
I haven't played 40k EVER!!! Previously been a fantasy man but have taken a leap of faith with some encouragement from friends. None of us have played for 9years!
I've chosen to field a Chaos army.
My mates are, Space Marines, Tau and Eldar and 1000pt armies are what we have agreed on.
Given my wife and I have just had a new bundle of joy arrive 9 weeks ago I don't want to be spending big $$$ on day one as I ease back into table top gaming.
I've been looking at getting the Chaos Space Marines battleforce set.
For those that are unfamiliar see
I'd like to field all those minis and buy a few more to supplement this to make a beginners 1000 pt force.
Was thinking of getting a few more Berserkers and fielding 2 units of 8. Favoured units if I go with the world Eaters cult.
Given that I'm such a newb I was wondering if anyone could give me some basic pointers in building a 1,000pt army around this box set?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Well, you are going to need a HQ. I like the deamon prince. It is very versitle, and can kick a$$, however most others are more expeinced so listen to them. Oh, by the way welcome to the forum. Be sure to visit the Ultimate Super Villian Clan. The link is in my sig. You ought to fit right in.
Yes, you will need a HQ choice, I would suggest starting with a simple Chaos Lord... You could either model it from a Chaos Space Marine(CSM) or just get the model... Whichever suits you better. Berzerkers are nasty in close combat... 3 base attacks... for a 19pt (possibly 20) thats pretty good if you ask me haha. I'd suggest getting obliterators, if you plan on sticking with Black Legion, or another undivided army. They are very good at what they do (everything). And depending on how you like to fight, there are several ways you can go with heavy support. I myself am in love with Defilers... but they are usually hit or miss... But once we(or you) figure out how you like to play, it would make this much easier.
Oh yeah, and Welcome to the Forums
You Can't Stop the Eighp
Had Tzeentch before I knew how to play :P
are u from Australia? Im from Adelaide and i myself am in the same boat. i've just bought the Chaos battle force too.
DOWN WITH THE FALSE EMPEROR!!!MAY HIS GALAXY BURN!!!
Thanks for the welcome and the tips.
Its all going a long way.
Frost: Yes I'm from Australia, Melbourne to be exact.
Guys I've got another question...
If I have a Lord with Mark of Chaos Undivided all Khorne Beserker units and Slaneesh noise marines are considered elite units correct as they have the Mark of Khonre and Mark of Slaanesh respectively?
Hahaha probably a little too ambitious to have a unit of Khorne beserkers and a unit of slaneesh noise marines in a 1000 pt army
I would get somethin' that can infiltrate...idk, get an enemy unit tied up in cc turn 2...that always makes them nervous and that unit cant really shoot at the other ones can it now?

If you get that box you would need to get a couple of more bikers as three are a bit vulnerable.
You could very well get another box of Berzerkers if you like the mindless-charging game but make sure their champions have Power fists as you must charge the closest and you do want to be able to hurt it.
As you and your friends are getting 1000pts armies I would say a Lt is better then a Lord as the Lords tend to get quite expensive. Especially in the beginning. Take a look at the articles at the top of the Chaos-board, there you'll find some good info on this. (and other things)
The Obliterators as mentioned are great fun and the models are brilliant.
Why not take a look at the army-list section there are quite a few Black Legion armies at 1000pts. There is a search function that I recommend
