Alright i've finally figured out what I want in my slaanesh army so I'm starting to buy the guys. Never played any miniature game before but slowly learning everything through the codex, rulebook and forums. Heres my question I'm building my army and starting to paint. The thing is I see on forums where people say " Convert your Chaos Marines to Noise Marines" I'm a little lost is this a point conversion or a visual conversion. Will it make a differance if i don't convert them? I have 3 6 X Chaos Marine Squads are they not usable as an Emperor's Children Army? And if not can I still convert them I havent started painting yet and I was just planning on giving them the pink over black color scheme. I wasn't sure if thats what people meant as making them a noise squad or if it was meaning people wouldnt recognize them as slaanesh unless they had the EC bit pieces on them?
Thanks for any help.
Yes you should be able to use them around your friends this is described in one of the whitedwarf Counts As aticles. Yes that means both in you list and on the models. Make sure that it is clear that they understand what you are using them as and do your best to make them look like noise marines when you decide for sure. And at a tournament it wont be acceptable.

When someone says "Convert them..." it means physically. When they say "Convert normal Marines into Noise Marines" they simply are saying to use the regular marines and make them look more Slaaneshi.
Using regular marines as Noise Marines takes no stretch of imagination, especially if you buy them no Slaanesh specific weapons (Blastmaster and Sonic Blaster). However, should you decide to start equipping marines with those weapons, then you're going to need to buy the correct weaponry. Bolters will not suffice for Sonic weaponry.
The other problem you run into is the Mark of Chaos Undivided (MoCU). I'm pretty sure quite a few shoulder pads have it very visibly marked. You may or may not run into problems, as by following Slaanesh, you shouldn't have a MoCU. A real simple solution is to mail order the Emperor's Children specific shoulderpads and just use those. Or, if you feel comfortable in your coverting skills, you can just file off the Marks and use blank shoulderpads. Filing of plastic isn't hard by any means.
On the other hand, alot of people probably wouldn't even notice in the first place, or even care.
To summarize - you shouldn't run into any problems using your three squads of six marines as Noise Marines. Just remember that the weapons they bear are the weapons they must count as - no counting Bolters as Sonic Blasters!
