hello all, I have just started a Worldeaters Army and would like to know every ones opinion on equiping them with Plasma pistols. Normally I love Plasma weapons and my vanilla Chaos armie makes good use of them.
here are some of my thoughts ...
1. plasma pistols have a range of 12 inches ( wuppie doo)
2. WE's dont seem like a stand and fire army
3. I am trying to maximise my movement every round by raging
4. the price of pistols adds up fast if i max out thier potential
on the plus side i would love to immolate a small squad of good guys when a charge is out of the question.
please let me know what your thoughts are
thanks in advance
Plasma pistols + Khorne bezerkers= wasted points.
There is no real point as you make your marines even more expensive (which in it self isn't too bad) but when you consider they will die in CC it does hurt.
For khorne always go for numbers over upgrades in standard bezerkers.
Hope this helps.
I agree with outsider. I understand why people want to equip them with plasma pistols, however in most cases you just want to dive right in to CC with the Chain Axes. If your playing a big game and have points left over i'd toss in a few, however in most cases i would not do it, especially in smaller games.
40K-Beakies(9-14-4),Guard(4-7-2),Orks(34-12-11). FANTASY-Dwarves(15-6-7),Beasts (14-14-1), Skaven (17-17-10) DoC (6-1-2). CYGNAR (28-15-1)
Also, you gotta realize that in most games, with the very short range of the plasma pistol, you'll probably only get the chance to shoot with it during just 1 turn (two if you're lucky). So you gotta ask yourself, is it REALLY worth it to spend all those extra points for ONE shot that might not hit, might not wound, and might end up killing your own guy?

see, in army other then khorne, the plasma pistol is a beautiful for taking out light armor and/or termies that get in your way. However, I always give my squad a set of chainaxes, and my aspiring champions never leave home without melta bombs, so termies don't worry me in the least, and tanks die like it's their job. That alone is a reason not to bother.
In addition, blood rage (and talismen of burning blood) means you've got a 1/3 chance of NOT even being able to fire that precious little pistol. And you'll only have 1 shot with it at most. And assuming that you don't burning blood the turn you're moving into range, you've got a 1/6 chance of melting yourself with it. All in all it's just a total waste, the bolt pistol is free, and you don't even need to spend any more points on already expensive berzerkers.
"And any man who comes through this fight mostly unharmed will be my sister! It'll be free frocks and jollies for ever, you'll see!"
- Rome: Total War
9th Black Watch (Imperial Guard) 4000 points
Red Corsairs of Khorne 2000 points
Space Wolves 13th Company 2000 points
Disagree on the plasma pistol - when I've had it equipeed, I've only used it once in 7 games.Originally Posted by Ubernyaw
Echo the chainaxes - Khornate chainaxes go a long ways towards evening out the playing field for berzerkers. Nothing finer in the whole game for a single point. Don't forget frag grenades for removing the disadvantages of assualting squads in cover. Furious charge is a good one to have too.
I also don't take terminators in my World Eaters force because they can't wield chainaxes - better another 10-20 nutters with pointy jabbers than a squad toting heavy weapons it'll rarely get the chance to use (again because of the MoK and blood rage.) For my chosen I go with regular troops with every 8th guy being an AC wielding an Axe of Khorne. If it's a low points game, I simply call it a Khornate Chainaxe and off we go.
I'm also becoming a fan of posessed with MoK and Daemonic Talons - sort of a CC assualt cannon if you get my meaning (wounds on a 6-no armour). Sometimes I'll take the Rhinos to transport them, but usually I'll trot them up right behind my berzerkers - note that this doesn't always work out quite the way I want if Blood Frenzy is in effect (sometimes the posessed pass up teh berzerkers in front of them).
Feel no Pain is your friend. If you like beefy squad leaders and don't want ot pay out big points, then FNP is the way to go. I use it for sure on my HQ - on my ACs ionly if I have points left to spend (like I'm a few dozen short of 2000 pts. or somthing like that)
Anyone remember that episode of Gilligan's Island where Gilligan and the Gorilla are tossing grenades into the lagoon? Sometimes running a World Eater's force feels that way to me
