What would you suggest a Khorne player fields against an Iron Warriors player. To my knowledge, he uses 4 Ordnance HS?
I advise you take a hedge trimmer - to deal with all the beard. (beard AKA cheese)
Otherwise you should probably take as many infantry as possibly. Take 3 or 4 squads of guys, and a few squads of bloodletters. Don't bother tooling up your lord. give him daemonic strength, a power weapon and melta bombs. Even though Im against predators, you should take as many as you have available, and if not, some dreads with twin-linked lascannons.
Avoid expensive units. make everything basic, so if you lose it, it won't matter too much. give everyone who has access to the armoury a power weapon and melta bombs, so they can destroy tanks and can still hold their own in close combat.
Hope that helps.
Cheers...I should have also mentioned it will be 2500 points lol.
Oh....thats slightly more understandable. still...take 5 squads of guys, 1 squad of bloodletters. predators/defilers, fast daemon prince (maybe - if so, avoid vindicator) maybe some flying possessed? or a Lieutenant with wings and melta bombs. or both...
When are you guys gonna be playing?
I'll take a closer look at that tomorrow, when I have more time to spend on the Army lists. But for now -Originally Posted by RobtheGuru
One of the few times I recommend one, but a Statured Lord. Give him Daemon Armour, Aura, and Feel No Pain. A bit expensive, but can shrug off anything the IW can throw at you, with the exception of the Vindicator. As long as you can keep him away from that Vindicator, you'll be fine. Give him either Speed or Flight and 2x CCW + Strength, and you should be fine.
Next, think about some Biker units. Turboboost will give them an invulnerable save that lets them survive the Ordnance blasts and gets you close enough to drop in some Blood letters - or if you're really cruel, an Aspiring Champion acting as host to a Bloodthirster.
Predators are your next thing to look at. Have at least Daemonic Possession, and think about Mutated Hull. The Basilisk and Defilers can only glance on a six, assuming they hit with their scatter, and Oblits will need to close in order to use Meltas. Otherwise they're stuck with Lascannons glancing on a five.
Lastly, load up on troops. They're your bread and butter, and you'll need as many as you can muster.
One last thing - you can always consider making your list a Khorne heavy Black Legion list. You lose the free Aspiring Champions, but gain access to Oblits and Infiltrating Raptors.
I think Caluin has a good point about going from World Eater to Khorne heavy Black Legion. Infiltrating Raptors and deepstriking Obliterators are a very effective way of getting close to those Defilers and Basilisks.
Khorne bikers can also tank hunt, but they run the usual Khorne risk of being tied up in cc on the way.
I would most definitely bring a super tooled up daemon prince with stature, feel no pain and the works. He can soak up quite a lot of lascannon fire before going down. And since this is a 2500 point game I would not shy away from also bringing a Bloodthirster. Never hurts to have something on the table that can take a basilisk shell to the face and just keep on smiling.
I am not so sure about pimping up the predator. With all the berzerkers charging forward I think the Iron warrior player will drop his pie plates on the troops instead of trying to hit a tank. However, this may just come from my unfortunate track record with tanks that get blown up as soon as the game starts... no matter what I pimp them up with.
If the radiance of a thousand suns
Were to burst at once into the sky,
That would be like the splendor of the Mighty One...
I am become Death,
The shatterer of Worlds.
There aren't many squads out there that can stand up to a 32 attack charge - it's very rare that i spend more than a turn tied up in cc on the way.Originally Posted by Arizzar
I'd also recomend a Daemon Prince tooled up entirely for survivability (and some sort of speed boost to get him out in front of the rest of your army). I had tremendous luck in a game against Tau with such a prince, he managed soak up nearly the entire army's shooting for 2 turns before finally biting it. If he manages to make it into combat, great, if not you've prevented two turns of shooting against your troops and potentially provided an advanced position for daemon summoning.
The Prince a took was something like:
Rune (usually overpriced, but against many rail guns invaluable)
Thousand Sons ~2750 points | Eldar ~1000 points
Tzeentch Daemons ~2000 points
Hes playing against Iron Warriors not Tau, but I think you mean Las Cannons?
It's been a minute.
