I know my question don't really have a "good" answere but I'm going to ask it anyway.
Witch of chaos fast attack is the best? Or maybe most worthvile...
I'm planing on doing an 1500 pt BL army and I can't settle for bikers och raptors, don't think I want any of the demonic beasts if someone cant convince me.
Well anyway thanks if someone can help me out.
Please re-read your post before you make one. I'm positive you didn't.
If you want the best fast attack, take a look at the codex. You have raptors, bikes, beasts. There is no "best", but there is best suited towards your army. Take a look, and fill in the unit which satisfies you the most.
"There is no middle ground. Strike Hard, strike fast and strike first."
Well, if you don't want daemon's then the two options are Raptors and Bikers.
Each have their purposes and you should just get what unit seems best to fit your army and which one you think would be more fun to play with and you'll probally be happy. In larger games, then I'd suggest both of them but for you one option would be good.
Raptors can be fitted with Melta's and can be a good quick hard hitting unit. They also are fast with their jetpacks so can be good at taking and securing table quarters and objectives.
Biker's are also a fast unit capable of anti-tank infantry and good in CC. They can also be good as a unit to summon daemons because of the ability to speed boost 24".
It's all really up to you. Just get which one looks more capable for your army and fun to use!
I really love raptors, but I believe bikers are overall more useful in most situations.
Raptors are no more durable than standard marines. Bikers have increased toughness and the ability to turboboost. Both can make them much more survivable. If used right turboboost can be a huge tactical benefit as that move can bring your bikers right where you wan't them. If you have daemon squads to summon, then bikers are a far better platform for doing so than raptors. Also, bikers can be given marks. Slaaneshi bikers are amazing. And khorne bikers are deadly in cc.
Raptors are one of my overall favorite units in the chaos codex, but they must be used well in order to pay off. If you field them, go for a fairly tooled up champion, 2-3 meltas and maybe infiltrate or furious charge. That makes them good tank hunters and good melee fighters. But, as mentioned they are still only marines when it comes to durability. That means that they are a very, very juicy target for the enemy.
So all in all, if you are in doubt I would suggest bikers as they are a more solid and flexible choice. They are far more forgiving and will not crumble under pressure like raptors can sometimes do.
If the radiance of a thousand suns
Were to burst at once into the sky,
That would be like the splendor of the Mighty One...
I am become Death,
The shatterer of Worlds.
Thanks for the summary!
Pick a task, then decide whether or not Bikers or Raptors will do it best.
Whats in the rest of your army? If you have alot of fire power already I would lean toward Khorne bikers, or Raptors. If you all ready go a fair amount of close combat power Slaanesh bikers are the way to go.
While bikes are more survivable, you will also have a lot of trouble trying to hide them. (I have a hard enough time trying to hide 4 bikes I don't even wanta think of hifing 10 or more) Raptors while they die easier, can also be hiden way easier, ( put them behind some rocks or something jump in to combat and jump right back out, its really anoying) and are all around more versitle; for their points at least. If your going to pay the points for beast pay for mounted daemonettes or screamers, both are fast, while daemonettes pack more of a punch they are slightly slower( depends on your hit and run roll really), I used a pack of screamers once or twice( looking back at it, it may have worked if i had more than 5 screamer models... oh well) and managed to run circles around my oppenets, down side to me is that Raptors can do the same thing exept better....
Rheagar fought nobly
Rheagar fought valiantly
Rheagar fought honorably
And Rheagar died.
