I don't like dreds personally. they're too slow and get shot before they get where they're going (I play against tau and ulthwe most of the time, so there's plenty of rail guns and bright lances to take out any dreds I take) I find that taking more marines (or in my case deamons, because they're cool) is much more cost effective.

a chaos dread is DEFINETLY worth it. they are so versatile..even more so than normal imperial space marine ones

they have the same weapon options and can choose the twin close combat arms option as well normally

sure they cna be a little unstable sometimes..but it all good.. you jsut need ot learn to wrok it inot the games staratagy..plus your enemy has even less idea what it's gonna do

the upgrades they can be given can not only make it so only an outright destructions will stop it but you cna end up repairing lost weapons..regainsing mobility if you get immobilised..getting +1armour all round..immunity to shaken and stunned results.

in basic made into what a dread naught really is meant to be...damn near unstopable.

Wow, that was confusing... you may want to use a spell checker or something.

i personaly dont like dreadnaughts. they just dont hang around long enough to do any major damage, it has weak armour and all it takes is 1 lascannon shot to put a dreadnaught down. sure it has cool rules but you'll never really get to use them. but if your not playing a shooty army i guess they could work but i'd still give them mutated hull.

I agree with komek_warsmith. I play a Khorne army and a Slaanesh army, Both of which contain dreadnaughts, and the Khorne one always reeks more havoc.

Dreads are great units. Not only do they get one more attack than their imperial counterparts, their special rules are more of a good thing. I wouldnt suggest putting a lascannon on him. Put a plasma cannon on him just in case you go into fire frenzy. The reason for this being, if you have to shoot at the NEAREST enemy unit which is more than likely going to be infintry you are going to do some damage. Also a plasma cannon isnt that bad against a tank.
You know what they say, if you dont like the weather in houston...go back to where you came from
