Aight, I've asked people on this thread this question alot. I need help really bad, as some may know from the past my friend plays Eldar and his style of play is pretty much static, except for slight variations that he uses to mess me up.
Here's whats always the same:
Seer Council with 3 Seers and 5 Warlorks
2 Squads of Guardians with Starcannons
Here are the variations:
Max Banshees w/ Exarch
Max Rangers w/ Exarch
Another Squad of Guardains
3 Vypers (combined or seperate)
(Varies) Dark Reapers w/ Exarch
Hmm wich legion are you using? that way our advice can be a bit more specific, as it sits if I where to counter that I would:
Make sure to use the dread axe for close combat against the seer council, probably on a chaos lord.
Autocannons are your friend against his av 4 troops(or worse) and AV12 tank. Against that tank quantity beats quality.
Daemonettes are good against wrathlord, not too bad vs the banchees either, their invunerable saves actually help against the power weapons, and after the first turn of combat they strike at the same time if I'm not mistaken.
Or Plague Bearers same invunerable save, but trade hard to hurt with banchee's 3 str instead of going first, they also wound the wrathlord on a 4+, but have no way of ignoring it's armor save.
Just a few ideas, hope they help. What particular units are giving you trouble?
Votewar MKV 2nd place. . .
Back from internet limbo, and glad to be here.
As Jormagi suggested a dreadaxe wielding lord should do nicely against these. But we really need to know more about what legion you play, what marks you like to use and what units you have available etc. etc.Originally Posted by LictorInTheGrass
Eldar generally suffer from a relatively poor armor save. Heavy bolters and autocannons eat through most aspects like starcannons eat through marines.
Infiltrate a squad of havocs with autocannons. Autocannons are statistically the best weapon for taking out skimmers like vypers, falcons and waveserpents. And if no skimmers are in range autocannons have a high enough rate of fire to make shooting at Banshees very worth while (btw, its always worth your while to shoot at Dark Reapers). If you have lascannons I suggest you aim them at the wraithlord and let autocannons deal with skimmers.
Your standard heavy bolter is a great weapon against eldar. So having a few of these in your tactical squads might be a good idea.
Banshees are greatly feared by MEQ players far and wide, but when push comes to shove you should probably be glad he did not bring scorpions. Give banshees something with T5 to fight (bikers, plague marines) and they will have a lot of trouble causing wounds.
As always you will find the hidden powerfist to be a most effective weapon. Avatar and Wraithlords are fairly easily finished off by this, and even the seer council will feel the pain when any and all unsaved wounds equal a killed psycker.
From what I can read out of the Eldar list you posted he will most likely stand and wait for you to come to him, and then countercharge you with council, avatar, wraithlord and banshees. A tried and proven Eldar tactics. You have some options... Get into cc fast, using bikers, infiltrating lord with speed, summoned daemons (furies are good vs. eldar). Aim your assault at the "soft" units like guardians, reapers and rangers and focus your firepower on the countercharge units. Eldar are generally very good at killing expensive stuff, but less great when it comes to killing a large number of models. So avoid units like obliterators and terminators since they die nearly as fast as regular marines, but cost a whole lot more.

Well im now considered an eldar vet and beginning chaos so I hopefully know something on this subject. Traditional advice is often wrong versing eldar. For a start dark reapers are not that dangerous. Most MEQ players call dark reapers uber cheese but most eldar players avoid them. This is because 1 or 2 heavy bolters will devastate them 1st turn so make sure you have a fair few.
Next you will need missile launchers and autocannons. These are the only things that take out wraithlords effectively apart from snipers.
Banshees are another one of those things MEQ players misleadingly fear. Banshees are no where near as dangerous as scorpions so just stick a few marines in their path with BP/CCW and you have a fair chance of making your points back against them.
The guardians /w starcannons will be a fairly big problem but since they only have BS3 you can probably just let them kill marines. Missile launchers can be useful here but not necessary.
The vypers will have crystal targetting matrix and this will be the biggest problem to your army. An indirect defiler can deal with this but I dont know if it will make its points back.
Caluins ingenious idea of an autocannon and 2 lascannon pred will help a lot.
Avatar is not hard to kill, that predator aided by your bolters should kill it long before it gets to you. However the thing about the avatar is that every so often it gets lucky with its save and wins the game alone.
I'm not so sure about what rangers can do to you. I dont think they will do much but hey might as well point some firepower at them and see if they run.
If you play undivided-mass marine squads and havocs loaded with bolters and heavy bolters/autocannons. Also a defiler or pred.
Khorne-I can tell you now that you are in a serious amont of trouble asthe eldar outshoot you, outrun you and the wraithlord will beat you in cc.
Nurgle-quite effective against eldar if you mass nurgles rot. Basically the eldar will never wound T5 and with true-grit they will kill a lot in return.
Tzeentch-basically the same as Nurgle. Can kill very well especially with rubric terminators.
Slaanesh-with their incredible medium range firepower and pinning/morale weapons the eldar player will get very frustrated.
Whenever I play eldar my biggest weakness is that if I ever fail a morale check I am losing a very important unit. If i'm ever vsing something with more than T4 im in trouble. A dreadaxed daemon prince is ideal and a keeper of secrets not far behind.
wow rather long-winded but I felt like showing off.

If anyone wants any kind of help writing fluff for any kind of GW army just ask.
I play Black Legion, its on my sig. So go nuts, because I have alot of stuff (other than daemons).
Whoops, add Scorpions as well to that list.
