Red Corsairs should probably use Alpha Legion rules so you can hide behind your hordes of pirate minions.. Tacticswise, close combat is the way. We're talking about marines who excell in boarding actions and space combat, after all.

Painting is quite flexible, and depends if they're Astral Claws or rebellious loyalists. Rebellious loyalists might keep their previous armour colours with big red 'X' markings. 'Real' Red Corsairs (i.e. the original Astral Claws) wear black and red.

The Chaos Codex, index astartes, a recent white dwarf article and the internet - search for "the tyrant of badab", "Lufgt Huron" "Huron Blackheart" or "The Badab uprising" and you should get some stuff on how they turned.

The only difference between tattooed people and non-tattooed people is that tattooed people are awesome and can kick your ass.

WD UK ed 303 has an article on CSM renegades and Red Corsairs feature pretty heavily in that. I don't know what the US/Canada ed would be though.
