well i've finaly started my berzerker army (bless their little chain axes) but i'm stuck in a bit of a rutt i can't thik what unit to collect next, at the moment i have got 3 units of 8 bezerkers i'm thinking of either doing bikers or possessed with demonic flight both would require converting (something which i'm looking forward to doing) but i'm trying to decide what to do next later on i would like to add some defilers and a CC dread, but now i'd like to bulk out the army before reenforcing it .
Anyone got any ideas?
you could back them up with some havocs maybe?
Also a defiler would be good
First off, you'll want an HQ so you can get some games going. A Lt. or Lord should be fine, but for smaller games you should stick with a Lt.
After you've got the Chaos Lt./Lord, you should be good to go and be able to start playing some games. See what you like with your army, get used to it, and if your opponent allows proxy some units so you can get a better feel for what you like and what you don't like.
After you have the base of your army (HQ and your Berserkers), then I'd suggest some Chaos Bikers. They can add lots of speed to your army, and you can give the AC melta-bombs and/or powerfist for some anti-tank capabilities.
Then, a heavy support is what you'll probally want to get next. I'd suggest a Predator with Autocannon turret, and Lascannon side sponsers. If you wanted, you could add some varias upgrades to help it survive longer. Use it to destroy pesky land speeders, enemy bikers, or any other fast units that will draw your units away.
If you did all the above options you'd have a Predator, 24 Berserkers, Chaos Lt/Lord, and Bikers.
That would give you a solid force, and room to expand into other units such as Possessed, Raptors, Obliterators, Defiler, Chosen, and Havocs. Some of these are restricted in a pure World Eaters army, but they are still options if your playing Black Legion with Berserkers.
Possessed can be used in many different ways efficiantly. I suggest you check out the below link for good information on them:
Raptors can work well too, if your not playing pure World Eaters of course because if you are they are illegal. Anyway, I like to have squads of 6-8 with 1 AC in there with some weapons, and maybe some Melta-Guns in there for popping any tanks that come by.
Here's an example set-up:
AC with Powerfist
Quite basic, but they are powerful and often times make their pts back. Just make sure they don't get shot too much, because otherwise they will die. Use cover when possible, and their good movement speed to get into combat and destroy anything with the Melta-Guns on the way there.
Obliterators are another fine unit. They are powerful, and have lots of options. If your not playing pure World Eaters, then these can help.
I'd stay away from the Defiler. Personally, I don't like but many do. If your gonna take one with Indirect Fire, be very careful that it doesn't scatter into your own army.
Havocs are another option if your not playing pure World Eaters. They can really provide some good firepower, and can be kitted for different roles.
For taking down vehicles:

The first one is for taking down lighter vehicles, and skimmers. The second one is to take down more heavily armoured vehicles like Land Raiders.

Good at destroying infantry, basically.
Basically, fit the Havocs to what you need and they should excell in that role.
And finally, chosen. These can get very expensive, so don't take them unless your playing a large game. They can be very powerful, but it comes at a price. They have many different set-ups and options so can be very potent.
Overall, just get what unit appeals to you and have fun!
I'm a fan of the Dread with 3 CC weapons. Some people call it over kill as the Bezerkers usually offer enough HtH for the army with the Dread people usually want Lascannons or Plasma cannons. It may be the Ork player in me, but i've always been drawn to the idea of Bezerkers hurling themselves at their opponents with reckless abandon and the dreadnaught right there next to them.
Game play purposes i like Bikes, with the mark of khorne they have a good number of attacks as well as the ability to get up there and summon right away. Have you also considered daemons? Pending how you convert your bikes you could convert some daemons to match really nicely.

The army is going to be pure world eaters so no havoks or raptors (see the debate me and caluin had about raptors vs possessed with demonic flight sorry i don't know how to link yet)
I think i'll go for bikes first and leave the possessed till later to represent the army growing in power and blessings of khorne.
Anyone fancy a bit of fluff i have got a bit of background planned out already
I'm wondering about the conversion of the possessed i'm thinking the torso legs and head of a berzerker the arms of an ork (big and bulky) and the wing of a erm........ hmmm i did think something from the warhammer range but i forget which ones.
