Welcome to Librarium Online!
Hello everyone.....I'm an Ork player (Boooooo! Hissssssss!) with a question. I'm still faily new to WH40K and only have about 6 games under my belt. I fought a Chaos Marine army today. His "Bloodthirster" and his "Aspiring Champion" (both had "Nurgle's Rot") were lumbering towards my poor Warboss and his bodyguards ending up within 6", and at the end of his shooting phase, he said he gets to roll for Nurgle's Rot twice. Is this correct?
You sure it was a Bloodthirster? Not a Great Unclean One? Or possibly a Daemon Prince?Originally Posted by Ribking
Anyways, assuming that you did indeed mean something other than the Bloodthirster and he wasn't actually giving a Gift of Nurgle to a model devoted to Khorne, then he was in error. You only roll once for each model in range of Nurgle's Rot, no matter how many different cases of Nurgle's Rot he may be in range of.
Reference is page 51 of the Chaos Codex. The description states that any model '...in range of at least one model with Nurgle's Rot...' then goes on with 'Roll a D6 for each effected model....'
So, only once per model, no matter how many cases of Rot he may be near.
Thanks for the quick response, Caluin.
It's a huge red deamon guy with a glowing sword. I have heard him call the model a "Deamon Prince" as well.
A bloodthirster is aligned with khorne and can't have nurgle's rots because they are a gift of nurgle and not khorne. It's the same with each gift of gods, they can only be given to marines dedicated to this god.
Be sure to ask if the units on the field are of the same mark as their gifts.

It probably was just a nurgle prince. New players tend to get a bit intimidated by the fact that we have a total of 9 count em 9, massive daemons:w00t: , (Prince of each god + undivided, great daemon of each god), A lot of people tend to just classify them all as a bloodthirster since its the most visible.
