Just one question, i've read that Caluin among others say that even squad numbers are prefreble too odd? (exept DG & 1k sons)
Why is that?
Well, Each of the CHaos gods have a "Favoured Number", and Squads with that many models in them get bonuses like +1 on summoning rolls (If the squad consists of Demons), or a Free AC. Khorne's favoured number is 8, I think Slaanesh is 6, Tzeentch is 9, and Nurgle is 7. I'm not quite sure on Slaanesh or Nurgle though.

Slaanesh is 6 you're right on that. aether moose.
Well, Without looking at favored numbers for the chaos gods, I think
the advantage of even numbered squads have to do with taking casualties and staying above half strength, thus remaining a scoring unit.
So to illustrate the point, Let's say you have a
Chaos space marine squad: (and the general thinking that more in a squad = better)you have the following choices:
6 man squad needs to take 4 casualties to be under half
7 man squad, needs to take 4 casualties before being under half.
an 8 man squad needs to take 5 casualties before being under half.
a 9 man squad still needs to take 5 casualties to be under half.
the difference is in the upgrading of a 6 man squad has about the same amount of scoring/staying power as a 7 man squad simply because it has to take the same number of casualties as the 7 man squad.
In my example, if the choice is between 6 and 7(or between 8 and a 9) in a squad, why pay for the extra marine, if it takes the same number of shots to disable the squad?
Hope this helps

WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
Yeah thanks Theyak for clearing that up for me.
Thats for Undivided squads though, or squads in general. Marked are fearless so it doesn't matter.
Yes, but even fearless units are no longer scoring when below half strength.
