Ok, I love the models for these suckers. But on paper they seem to be the weaker of the 4 lesser deamon types. I can see potential (summoning a bulk of them next to a unit and unleashing a hail of fire - before assaulting to support the summoners). Also, that extra would really looks nice (and might even tempt some heavy fire to instant kill some of them - considering the inv save that would be pretty nice). They should really mow down tyranid/kroot/gaurdsmen models with all that fire. But my opponant isn't going to fear them like a unit of Bloodletters.
Does anyone use Horrors? How many flamers is it worth upgrading (all of them? none of them? half?). I am seeing flamers as mobile 'heavy bolters' right now, is that their main use?
Any help appreciated.
A Promise to a dead man means nothing.
get flamers, they are better, they got the same stats, ok ! but the bolt they shoot is really better.
Indeed, magialtux is spot on. They are...not good.
The small amount of extra points it is to upgrade them to flamers is nothing compared to the ammount of extra damage they'll do.
I know the models are sweet, if it's OK with the people you are playing with- field them as Flamers. Just make sure everybody agrees before the game.
