i dont know if it's just me or what but it seems that most of the chaos psychic powers are not really useful. sure Gof is good and wind of chaos CANbo good but none of them are great or really stand out when the eldar player sees what you have and says wow i wish my psykers could take that power thats what i'm talking about.for example veil of time is just crazy compared to other powers and so are many others my best friend who plays marines always has his epistolary with veil of time and something else it has saved him so many times.and why do the marines have 6 powers epistolary get two and tzeentch have 6 when all they are about is sorcery and psychic powers why should we have to pay just to take 2?! all in all i am very dissapointed with the options chaos psykers have
It doesn't think, it doesn't feel,
It doesn't laugh or cry.
All it does, from dusk 'till dawn,
Is make the soldiers die.

First of all, you're trying to compare Chaos to Space Marines. Don't - it just doesn't work like that. They have some things that Chaos doesn't get, and we have some things they dont. The have Vindicators, we have Defilers. They have Traits, we have massive amounts of Veteran Skills. They have decent Psyker powers, we have Daemons/Oblits.Translate that for me? I have no idea what you're trying to say. You're trying to say that Librarians don't have to pay for their powers? Not true - in fact, Viel of Time is very expensive.Originally Posted by Chaosgod
Agreed. I don't know what eldar players are complaining about though, their powers are perfectly suited to their army, giving a real kick to the otherwise mediocre eldar units.
Okay, a librarian gets a psychic power free, but it's a pretty poor one, all told, and his base cost considerably higher than a basic chaos sorceror. Also, he's nowhere near as flexible. The virtue of chaos psykers is that you can take a cheap sorceror (heck, if you're tzeentch you can take an aspiring champion) give him a power and just use him as a psychic weapon. You don't have to pay for a psychic hood which is going to be useless when fighting necrons, and you don't have to pay for a force weapon you'll never use against guard.
Most SM players don't seem to take the librarian, he's considered poor value compared to the Chaplain, who is a beast.
I don't think the chaos powers are that bad either, they're just quite specialised as to the situations in which they're effective. That said, there's gotta be some value in watching your opponents face when you turn his hidden powerfist into a chaos spawn.
I agree with whats been said before, but I don't really think they're that bad. I enjoy using them, and they add some flavor and style to your army.
Nurgles suck though. All their good at is making guard run backwards and that's not all the time.
Strange...I have never thought of them as bad. I love the Psychic Powers, used right they are awsome I assure you.
The Minor Powers are a bit...unbalanced, more weight on Minor then on Power I'll give you that. But the major ones...I love them.
Gif tof Chaos has the potential to kill anything that bleeds, and a couple of others too. Not to mention the free Spawns joining your Psycher.
Wind of Chaos is also extremely good, try to use it as a drive-by weapon. You mentioned Tzeentch- do this and sacrifice a thrall. See that Wind turn into a Tornado.
Bolt of Change- assault Lascannon- I rest my case.
Doombolt- up to six Heavy Bolter equvilants with the BS of a Lord or Lt, not without it's uses.
Even Twisting Path can be usefull...I think. I will try it out again, being a bit more tactical and cunning then I was in the beginning when I decided it was crap.
The only thing that bothers me about being a Chaos Psycher (well, I'm not one but I use them alot) is the cursed Psychic Hood. I wish there were something to be done against it, like the Talisman of Tzeentch could affect the Ld of enemy Psychers in this aspect too... but that's a bit of topic.
Why not post a list in which you have included some Psychic powers and let us analyze it in the Army-list section?
Don't give up hope, Tzeentch is still a power to be reckoned with when it comes to magic.
Yeah, i just hate the minors as they relly dont have their usees well most of them as sirewn rocks in daemon bombs. Check out Nurgles and see what I mean.
I find that the psychic powers are in general great, though I would also agree we could get a small revamp... maybe for the next codex?
I know it won't be out for a couple of years, and we don't need much changed, but some small tweaks would be nice. For example, bolt of change... we pay so much for something not even close to being as good as a lascannon? Having it assault instead of heavy is not worth the lower strength and serious lack of range to me... not for the point cost anyway.
But seriously, we have great psychic powers... maybe except for twisting path... but some new ones would be good... a greater selection would be good, as we are chaos, we should have the greatest link to the psychic side of things.
And I'm all for thousand sons sorcerors getting some bonus for powers or something (2 powers before a familiar with a possible total of 3 anyone? Or maybe just have the first one free?)
Yeah we should get abilities as the psychic comes from the waro and we worship it and reside in it so why should we get weaker powers?
