i'm wondering which is a better commander for anti horde armies:
tzeentch sorcerer lord- daemon armour, master crafted bolter, inferno bolts, power weapon, warp focus, mutation, 4 thralls, daemonic rune
nurgle lord- daemon armour, plague sword, bp, daemonic mutation, daemon fire, daemonic rune
To be honest, I don't really like either of those set-ups, but I'll try to help you make them better. I'm gonna skip the Tzeentch one for a more experienced Tzeentch player to help you out there, but I can help you with your Nurgle Lord.Hmm. Drop D. Armour for D. Aura. The reason being, is most weapons that will be pointed at him will be high strength weapons with a low ap. Therefore, they will be ignoring your 2+ save from D. Armour. Having a invulnerable save will also help you in close combat against things like power weapons, which D. Armour can't protect you against either.nurgle lord- daemon armour, plague sword, bp, daemonic mutation, daemon fire, daemonic rune
Drop D. Fire as well. It's really not that useful, and you can spend those 5 points on something else.
D. Rune is very expensive. I probablyl wouldn't take it. As long as you keep it by other squads, you can use the indepandant character status to your advantage, so they can't shoot your Lord. Use cover whenever possible as well, because it will reduce the fire your Nurgle lord will take.
Your Nurgle lord is lacking speed. I suggest adding D. Speed and infiltrate. With D. Speed, you have a 19-24" charge range, and when you infiltrate you can get a better position as well as the possibilty of a first turn charge if positioned correctly.
So, with those changes your Nurgle Lord would look somehwat like the following:
-D. Aura, D. Mutation, D. Speed, Plauge Sword
If you wanted, you could throw in D. Resilence as well getting the Chaos Lord up to toughness 6, but that's optional.
One word...Manreaper. I'll also forgo the Tzeneetch but for Nurgle, anti-horde is the Manreaper on a Lord or Lieut. D6 extra attacks? This thing can wipe out an entire squad, and with Daemonic Strength, not necessarily just weak squads of guardsmen or gaunts either, this thing can kill anything. The plague sword IS NOT an anti-horde weapon, it's great for C'tan's and Characters and Commanders and such but the Manreaper is the way to go for anti-horde, I mean, a S5 Chaos Lord with possibly 11 attacks on the charge....death is the only possible outcome in that situation. So, Nurgle, and secondly, Manreaper is your answer. Cheers.
tzeentch can be good too, but forget the doombolt and mastercrafter bolter, when you play tzeentch you follow the road of the spellcaster, follow this road wisely and use everything possible to help you ! as a sorcerer you can go with 4xthrall + Wind of chaos and some Demonic gift to help you in fighting after you done your spells. Or if you want to be faster you can remove the thralls and use a disc of tzeentch and make an ultimate melee sorcerer like wind of chaos, mutation, dark blade, disc of tzeentch and armour... i havent counted how much point it cost but i think its legal.
This mite not be only a lord but this would be a very, very effective squad.
1 Lord W/ talons daemon armour, warp focus, d aura, and Gift of Chaos/ winds of chaos
and join him with a squad of Possesed
10 possesed w/ talons and give each a warp focus, and Gift of Chaos/ Winds of chaos (yes they can take psycic abilities, look in the FAQ or the Tzeentch section of the chaos codex)
You will rip people up in melee and turn them into spawn in shooting/ winds of chaos them.
Cmac2786 is right.
Scrap the P.Sword for a Manreaper. And the point is that Nurgle armies in general is more effective against Horde Armies, same with Nurgle Deamon Princes, ias natural as rain.
MEAT IS MURDER
The MoN automatically gives you D. Resilience, so you cant take it again.Originally Posted by Inquisitor Hause-
