I am sure you guys get sick of threads like this, but I have spent more then a week reading the chaos codex daily. And after all this time I still cant deside wich Chaos to play
I currently have 2 other armys. A DarkAngel, and a Necron. I am pretty much stuck between WorldEaters and ThousandSons.
Reason for the WorldEaters is I would like to try my hand at a more closecombat army. And well the BloodThirster is just so bad..... But the thing I dont really like about them are there minor daemons.
Reason for the ThousandSons are I just like the whole idea behind them, the minis are awsome. I love the entire egyption theme behind them. But the thing about them is I kinda dont want to do another shooty army. Sence I already play 2 shooters.
Any suggestions or help to help me deside wich to play would be great!
The thing to remember is that, ultimately, you could have a lot of fun with either. Don't get too worked up over the choice, and just consider that, whichever way you go, you'll have an army you can be proud of. Maybe get a couple of single metal models, one for each army, and try converting and painting them up. If you find a certain colour scheme comes out really well, it might help you make a decision.
The other big thing is play difficulty. I'm not going to be controversial and say khorne are easy to play because they're a 'charge across the table like a screaming monkey' army, almost any chaos army can be set up to play like that after all, but, like all expensive, low number armies, thousand sons are harder to play than most. You really have to watch your models carefully and build a good list to win. If you want an army which requires a bit of thought and work, it's probably a great choice, but otherwise it could get frustrating.
The criticisms you have with each army can be avoided to some extent. If you don't like bloodletters, you don't have to field them to make a decent khorne list. Some would argue they actually take away points which could be spent on more berserkers to increase the survivability of the army as it charges. Bloodletters are good, but they won't make or break your list if you don't include them.
The thousand sons shooty army thing is a little harder, but if you're clever you can squeeze in a few CC options. Rubric terminators, for example, are probably better in cc than out of it since they no longer strike at initiative 1 and have no heavy weapons (save the possible bolt of change, which is great but not incompatable with a subsequent charge. Only the slowness holds them back.) There's also the possibility for the more.. silly units, for lack of a better term. Thousand sons possessed, for example, seem very overpriced for what they do, but you might be able to make them work (give a few of them gift of chaos, take a few spawns for initial armour, charge the enemy and then watch the squad grow.)
In short, don't get too hung up on the choice.. Whatever you pick, chances are you can bully it into playing the way you want, and make an army you'll enjoy playing. It's just about making the choice.
im trying to turn my Thousand Sons army into a melee one right now, im using some Chosen of Arhiman so i can deep strike my troops near the enemy and charge, my lord and AC got wind of chaos+4xthrall+power fist, get some screamer with them and your good.
How can you not love bloodletters. 11 more points than a normal marine with basically deep stike, a 5+ save and extra strength and dont forget the power weapon. I'd go with WE as the other 2 armies you play are very shooty and its always good to have different armies. Personally I'm always drawn to a WW2 movie with Humans fighting in the city or humans fighting aliens. It's just up to you but dont pull out to much hair or youll end up like homer.
