Is it just me, or is the IW colour scheme a bit...boring. It does look very good, but especially in a cityfight terrain they dont stand out as much (see last couple of pages of the CSM Codex). Dont get me wrong, I really like the IW and all their firepower.
Lets get to the point. If I get all IW units, but paint them a different colour, and follow all the IW rules, it is still legal right?
And is it worth doing? How many of you have made your own colour scheme?
There is no rule anywhere that states that particular armies need to be painted in a certain colour scheme. So yes, it is legal to have Iron Warriors painted in any colour scheme you see fit. There are tournament rules about how you paint your army, but nothing that states they need to conform to pre-defined colour patterns.Originally Posted by PaRaSiTe_X92
I play an Alpha Legion list, but I actually liked the Iron Warriors scheme and fluff more, so they follow that. While they play like AL, they look and feel like Iron Warriors.
Thanks Caluin. It's like you're Chaos' spokesperson on Earth. You know so much
And don't you think that IW color scheme is boring.
You can combine any metallic paints to get the look you want.
Mithril Silver + Shining Gold = posh IW on parade, won't get lost in almost any terrain.
Tin Bitz + Dwarf Bronze = very dark IW.
There're many other combinations you can use.
Yeah I've just spoken to Caluin and he told me about that. Thanks.
The main thing I was thinking about is the picture on page 79 of the CSM Codex. Against the green/trees (which my board will be) they look very good. But in the city terrain they don't show out as much. But probably if there were some other enemies that had colour they would stand out more.
