Only viable followers are the Tzeentch lackies. You'll see them occasionally on their lists.
I use chaos hounds in my Emperor's Children close combat squads to compensate for the low sacred number. They're pretty cool because they basically benefit from the rest of the squad's Warp Scream and add a lot of extra attacks and occassionally "take one for the team" as the saying goes.
Tzeentch Thralls are almost always seen in Tzeentch lists. They're just too good for their price to pass up.
Chaos Hounds appear most often in Emperor's Children lists, as the Sacred Number is low and they help compensate for that, as grimmtu mentioned. The reason you don't see 'em more often is many of those lists also Infiltrate, which you can't do with Hounds.
Chaos Spawn go great with Khorne units, but many people haven't realized that yet. Probably because they're pretty expensive, but they're worth it if you weren't planning on infiltrating or riding a transport anyways.
All other armies typically infiltrate the majority of their units, so you won't see followers in those lists. When it comes down to choosing between infiltration versus followers, you'll always choose infiltration. But if you're not using infiltration anyways, then followers are worth their points.
I don't use spawn because I heard that it would negate a unit of Berserke's Blood Rage. Is that right?

in my Tzeentch army i use 24 Thrall wizards, 20 for my squads and 4 on my Lord.
I tryed Gift of chaos on a melee lord once, was fun when i had 5 Spawn of Chaos with me
Nope. Bezerkers still get their frenzy move with Spawns around.Originally Posted by Æther-MØØSE
There once was a Lord named Vlad,
Who's fighting skillz really were mad.
He killed and he maimed,
He spilled blood in Khorne's name.
And the fact that he's legal makes me glad
(special thanks to Uriel Zarium for the last line/touching it up)
I use both hounds and spawn in my EC army as ablative wounds. Spawn especially; how can you not take T5, 2 wound ablative shields that have a 3+ armour save FOR 20 POINTS!!!. I would say they are a must for every havoc squad:yes:
Does that work? I thought that if you had a model where some models had 2 wounds and others one, you have to remove 1 wound models first (due to the rule that says you cant seperate wounds to avoid taking casualties).

Hounds on the other hand are the same toughness as marines. . .
Votewar MKV 2nd place. . .
Back from internet limbo, and glad to be here.
