Hi welcome to LO
I don't have any retinue but I'll se what me and my codex can come up with (I love to design army, squads and retinues and stuff like that) just to see what people think about them.
I thougt I'd point out that here on LO we don't say u or ur, we use you and you'r.

Long ago there was something in me, but now that thing is gone,
I cannot cry, I cannot care, that thing will come back no more.

I don't field a human character, but here's my terminator squad loadout.. I'd basically use this squad with a lieutenant added in place of one of the terminators.
Mark of Slannesh
3 Combi Bolters, 4 Power Weapons, 2 Blastmasters, 1 Chainfist, Rapturous Standard
Free Aspiring Champion: Combi-Bolter, Power Weapon, Sorceror, Wind of Chaos
This is the one situation where the rapturous standard actually does anything, I think.. I activate it during the first enemy shooting phase after deep striking, to counter the usual 'hail of fire' which accompanies terminators deep striking. It's pretty good at bouncing off plasma.
Sounds fun, although how a bit of variation in case you come across massive hords of things rather than just thick armour?
Also, what point size army do you generally field? The fatwah of the forum states that terminators are only really worth it in larger point battles.
Have you considered marks and the like too? Rubric termies are pretty popular, although pointy. That extra wound will go a looong way on termies.
P.s try to avoid net speak (u - you, r - are etc) as it makes some people really angry and isn't considered good manners

In any case, retinues aren't typically worth downsides. Lords are already extremely strong by themselves, and being forced to attach themselves to a unit usually only slows them down and makes them a target. Retinues are really only worthwhile when you have your Lord in Terminator Armour and need to Deep Strike him with some ablative wounds.
In all other cases, it's simply better to buy a regular unit of Chosen and just attach the Lord to them.
Mine are usualy silly or not worth taking.
The first ever retinue I thought up would accompany my Khorne Lt. It was scary but a stupid point sink.
7x Chosen Champions ("The Doom and Gloom Boys")
Demonic Armor, Feel No Pain, Juggernaught, Spicky Bits, Pair of Lightning Claws, Master Crafter Weapon, Melta Bombs. The Lt was equiped the same way.
Retinues are good in some circumstances but are generaly avoided.
If you want to go for a theme then field one. Otherwise leave them at home. You're generaly better off sticking you Character in a squad. That way he can come and go as he pleases.

There once was a Lord named Vlad,
Who's fighting skillz really were mad.
He killed and he maimed,
He spilled blood in Khorne's name.
And the fact that he's legal makes me glad
(special thanks to Uriel Zarium for the last line/touching it up)
You'r isn't even a word. Do you mean you're or your?Originally Posted by Zartas
GMCL, what point army is that for, as it would be quite a few points. I don't have a retinue yet, but I would probably go similiar to you in an ~2000pt army.

Yup, I've to date never used a retinue (in chaos). Unless my play style chages I doubt I will. Like Caluin says, they're only usefull in limited situations.

Back from internet limbo, and glad to be here.
I use 6 terminators, 4 with combi bolters and power weapons and 2 with reaper autocannons and chainfists. They were assaulted by ten bloodletters and wiped them out in return for 4 termies.

y aknow your retinue can all be asp champs, even though it sounds cool its realy realy.....realy exspensive. I had like 5 terms with a term lord and it took out like....3 squads before my lord became a independent char. All matters what your tactics are...just watch your cost and rember if you buff them up to much they arnt multi wounded models so one miss roll and your skrewed, points wise.
