I'm ready to create a new Chaos Army. I've read through the chaos army book but I don't have any of the expansion books yet that contain other chaos chapters. I'm thinking Black Legion but not sure of the outside chapters. I can get whichever book would contain the best chapter to fit my needs. As I don't know the special abilities of chapters outside the chaos book, obviously I'd like a chapter with some cool special abilities. My army would look "loosely" something like this:
1. A Kick butt special character like Abaddon
2. A Greater Daemon most likely a bloodthirster
3. Possibly a chaos sorceror
1. A chosen Termie squad.
2. A Daemonit Flight Unit of Possessed Chaos Marines
3. An Obliterator Cult
1. 2 x Chaos Marines
2. Possibly a daemonic pack
1. A Dreadnought
2. A Defiler
3. A Land Raider
Notes: I particularly like the versatility of fast troops like bikes and jumpjets. Along that line some Infiltration would be nice too.
By the way, i know what cheesy means but what is "fluff"? LOL
Fluff is the background story of your army (and the 40K universe), as for the chaos army, I'm no expert here but I know that a black legion army (like you said) will allow you to field something like this, just my 2 cents, hope its usefull
Fluff is an armies background and storyline.
Here is my rundown on chaos.
The one that fits you needs most is the......
Although my top ten list of chaos is as follows..
1. Word Bearers
2. Death Guard
3. Alpha Legion
4. The Fallen
5. Empeorers Children
6. Thousand Sons
7. The Lost and the Damned
8. Black Legion
9. World Eaters
10. Homemade legions.
I've spoken with people that drool about "word bearers" but I just don't see why? Is it because of all the demons they can use?
World Bearers are the most 'satanic' of the chaos legions if such a parallel can be made and accepted. They are the most rigid adherents to the religious aspects of Chaos in its opposition to the Imperium.
The are divided into cults and yet they dont get cultists. GW has been getting emails from me for a few days now about that. Anyways, word bearers are the grey knights of chaos, and the fact they can have like 11 units of deamons is pretty sweet.
first of all, in that list, you really have too much stuff for me to narrow it down to a specific army.
Apathy is the greatest enemy of all.
HQ = anybody with daemonic upgrades and wargear can be made "kick ass"
almost anyone can take sorcerors and daemons
ELITES = almost anyone would suit this, except some cant take obliterators
TROOPS = I'd suggest that you take more troops choices in bigger squads
most armies except nightlords can take any daemons, but furies are all you really need anyway....
FAST ATTACK = Sounds like you want mr. nightlord here...
HEAVY SUPPORT = If your obsessed with shooting, take IW, otherwise anyone will do
Apathy is the greatest enemy of all.
Thanks for the replies all.
Shas'o, keep in mind that the above is a "loose" list of what I like from what I've read. From what i've read and am hearing, I'm somewhat narrowed down to Black Legion, World Eaters, Emperor's Children or Night Lords.
The World Eaters or Emperor's Children so far seem like the logical choice. I'd lose raptors but could cover jump ability with Possessed Marines using daemonic flight and both seem to have nice abilities.
The Night Lords only getting 1 heavy is a concern.
The Black Legion is versatile but lacks distinguishing special abilties.
