Alright, again, I'm new to this but I've come again with a question that I was uncertain about.
Now while I understand that with a bolt pistol and a close combat weapon, a space marine gets 2 attacks in close combat as they use the pistol as a second close combat weapon. Now my question is, if a unit is armed with bolters instead of pistols, can a second close combat weapon be bought for them to use in close combat to allow them that second attack?
I noticed that my marines came with knives and pistols in holsters to be modelled onto them so I wonder if it's feasible. Also, I do know that with True Grit, Plague Marines can use bolters as though they were pistols as far as close combat goes, but I'm wondering more in a general sense. Chaos Undivided marines.
No, only True Grit allows you to use the mighty bolter as an additional CC weapon (that's the whole point of True Grit ain't it ), as otherwise, the bolter is far to heavy and cumbersome to effectively use with one hand.
The wording for space marines state that the marine is armed with a close combat weapon and EITHER a bolter or bolt pistol (I think).
So feel free to model it on, just don't claim for a second CC weapon

That's right Karmoon, you always get the ccw and can choose between bolter or bolt pistol.
The option of having a bolter and ccw is to stop death guard players moaning that they don't have the right kit to use true grit. It also lets you have some nice conversions etc and also for fluff terms- SMurfs don't need ccws, they're already superhumans who can punch through rockcrete, and they have their holy bolters anyway. Chaos Marines, on the other hand, love killing things up close (out of some twisted perversion, no doubt) and will more often than not carry around some sort of chopping/hacking/beating impliment. An Imperial Space Marine wouldn't dare use any equipment that he wasn't given by the techpriests. Chaos don't give a stuff who they offend; why would they?
