Not sure if this should be in the rules forum, but here we go anyway...
This just recently came up at game for me, what do you have to see on a defiler to target it?
I can't remember the page number right now, but the rule book says you must see the core or tracks of the vechicle, not an antenta, or weapon mount to be able to target it. My question is thus, if there is a defiler trying to hide behind terrain, and I can see one of it's front claws, can I target it? What about the rear legs? Or do I have to be able to draw LOS to it's central body?
What counts as the core of the Defiler for targeting purposes?
I always use it's central body, seeing or reaching just enough to get only a singlle leg/claw isn't even right as it could simply move away from it, just remeber you also measure from it's body.
Yeah. always use the body for measuring and determining stuff.
Although I've argued for any part of the model before, I think its intended to be targeted at the main chassis of the defiler where the battlecannon is mounted. any part of that main area.

WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
I'm going to have to go for anywhere on the body. The defiler takes up a lot of space on the battlefield. To me measuring from the core body is not unlike mearsuring from the turret of a leman Russ. Sure it's the buisness part, but if you hit the legs/track you're going to still do damage.
That's how eveybody I play with does it. Although to I have from time to time wondered myself what exactly counts as the area on those things. There is no base, and the body isn't exactly a nice square block like you get on tanks.
The one thing I do know is that if it's in question it's definitley going to be an obscured target.
Votewar MKV 2nd place. . .
Back from internet limbo, and glad to be here.
I say if its central body cannot be seen, it's obscured. If it can be seen, target it as normal.
