is there anything illegal in a unit of chosen infiltrators carrying the demon icon summoning a unit of bloodletters to it before the battle starts? allowing a first turn charge?
They cannot start the battle on field. Of this I am sure.
Reserves are normally only available from turn 2+
Whether this limitation applies to binded daemon units, I cannot tell.
The codex is deliciously vague about this. maybe I wrong though.

it states you can summon them anytime without a roll (i do not have the codex on me unfortunately so someone may correct me)
i think it is fairer to summon them at start turn 2 but i really don't think the codex clarifies this
and i think you would be well within your rights to argue they are summoned on your first movement phase and can assault? Or am i looking at this the wrong way?
yeah, it says roll for them like reserves... so they cant come on till turn 2 at the best
i'm at work just now so not really in a postion to argue
but you don't need to roll for them, the point of the demon icon is that you can automatically summon a unit of demons to it
when this is allowed to happen is where the ambiguety is
i will read the codex tonight when i get in and re post when i'm better armed with the text (should probably have waited to do this shouldn't i but i was thinking about this and impatient, as one gets :x )
well, im no chaos expert... but from the codex it seems the only reason for having a daemon icon is to actually be allowed to summon daemons at all, because they need to come in near an icon...
unless im mixing it up here... by daemon icons you do mean the icons used for summoning (ie. can be given to squads with the appropriate mark), right?
if so, you still need to roll for the reserves
if not, then ive just completely argued a random point
EDIT: ok, i knew i shouldnt have argued about chaos when i dont know chaos... just found the daemon icon in the codex... ignore everything ive said so far sorry

LING_LOVER, its a specific demon icon that can ONLY be given to a unit of chosen who all bear the mark of CU.
if you look at the thread i posted it shows where in the codex you get the information if you want a look
but the consensus seems to be what i thought, first turn summoning is allowed
combined with infiltrate this is very powerful
With the price you're paying for a daemon icon and a unit of overpriced chosen to carry it.. I'd say you can summon in turn one.
Codex Says :
"At the satart of the chaos player's turn [...] ". Codex p.18
So it means that you can summon damemons at any turns, at the start of it. There is not other restrictions.
