Does anyone use the Kai Gun? Should it go on a lord, lieutenant, or AC? What upgrades should I give the one who has it?
I plan to use a kai gun in my army but am not really sure what model it should be on. Help is appreciated.

I have not tried this myself but I think that a lieutenant in terminator armour with a kai gun and some other thing perhaps would be good. But I don't think it's good to give a kai gun to an AC.
Hope it helps.

Long ago there was something in me, but now that thing is gone,
I cannot cry, I cannot care, that thing will come back no more.

a statured prince can use it one handed
along with a dark blade i like the setup
you may only get BS 3 but you are going to be assaulting as often as possible and those shots as you fly into combat would be good
I thought you could only have 1 Demon Weapon on a guy, and either way I think that the Kai Gun on a statured DP would be a waste because of his BS3 and his propensity for close combat.
I've done this before, with success: a Terminator squad with an AC w/ the Kai Gun. That way he can fire the thing several times and you're not chomping at the bit to get him into cc. I give my Lord some hand-to-hand setup and smash him into the enemy's lines instead.
So whatever you do the Kai Gun should be used in a shooty squad, so you maximize efficiency.
Only one Deamon weapon per army unless you include one of the special characters, AKA Abadon etc.
For me I see the Kai gun as a great way to spend nothing on my HQ so I beef up on the things that actualy do the killing in my army, CC marines, bloodletters, havocs, etc.
For a measly 70 points just give a LT a kai gun and watch him pop almost 2 marines a turn. It's great for fighting necrons too. Destroyers and immortals fall easily to it as well.
Toss on D flight and use him to pop tanks by shooting into side and rear armour.
didn't realise its a demon weapon as i dont have codex on me
so only 1 per force then
perhaps the statured prince is a bad idea. I like the idea of the addditonal assault attacks as he charges in, thats less people to kill before he gets to the next attack and it'll count as an extra attack anyway
but if it uses up a slot for a dark blade somewhere else it ain't worth it i don't think

not to mention that the BS of the statured lord is not as good.
A leiutenant with flight might work rather well with the kai gun.
Fly him around and shoot at marines, the only problem is, the rate of fire isn't all that glamorous, so its not a stand-alone butt-kicker. Perhaps attaching said flying lieutenant to a squad of raptors might work(though you'd lose the hit and run ability, so not such a hot idea)
I just think there are far better ways to use your one daemon weapon choice, a kai gun isn't high on my list of choices.

WINDMILLS DO NOT WORK THAT WAY!
I give it to a lieutenent, and that's about it. . .sometimes I give the lieutenent a power weapon just in case. Then I use him to snipe squads that are down to 1-2 men, or just wear down MeQ's. With a BS 5 they hit on 2's wound on 2's and cut through MeQ armor. Also the Lieutenent auto passes target priority. It's cheap, effective, and is pretty much garenteed to make it's points back or better. This is what I have lead my LatD most of the time.
A Kai Gun will average 8 MeQ kills a game if unmolested & doesn't need to be in CC to do it. The wearer can hide out inside/near the armies squads and be protected from attack, this means that they don't need as many points to make it effective. Sure a dark blade Lord can kill more, but they also cost twice as many points.
So I say the key to the Kai gun is put it on a lieutenent and keep it cheep.
Votewar MKV 2nd place. . .
Back from internet limbo, and glad to be here.
Hey,Another poster (sorry, I can't remember which) mentioned this tactic:Originally Posted by grand master

He used 2 of the Special Weapons at the Rhino's Firing Points for drive-bys.
The Kai/ Rhino gag would work well in a DG list with 4-Plas Havoks, too. :- )
If you really wanted to destory MEQ, you could take a squad of 10 havoks, 4 with plasma and the AC with a Kai.
Big points cost (250 range, depending if you want to inf them) but vs Meq that'd be ALOT of pain coming at them. Even worse if something managed to get withing 12 inches. One turn of rapidfire would put most things down pretty quickly.
You'd need 10 bodies to flesh it out simply due to the fact that you are going to take alot of fire on that squad.
Really, it works on just about any marked or unmarked squad you could put on.
Tzen - Slow and purposeful : Lots of wounds protecting it, march right up the field firing off long range bolters. Cheaper than bolt of change for MEQ killing purposes.
Slan - Assuming your squad had sonic weponry, you could just keep on the move and still pump out the shots.
Nurgle - 4 plasma guns and infiltrate + kai = Lots of MEQ killers that will be sticking around.
The only part that's tricky is the delivery. Pieplates will be thrown, tons of plasma...speedbump units..all sorts of stuff can slow the shooty death squad down
