I am pondering a possible small Khornate army (500-1000 pts) to play just for fun, but also for the conversion opportunities. The flair of the army is in its paint scheme. I don't plan on using the standard models, but to convert normal tactical marines painted in the pre-heresy paint scheme (white and blue). They will have their Khornate chainaxes and still use the standard rules. They will have indications of their corruption, but it will be a unit that was lost in the Warp for a time and came out only recently, touched by Khorne. Thus they joined their brothers in collecting skulls. Their armor will be spattered with blood, reminiscent of their taste for carnage even as loyalists. They haven't had time to modify their armor too much and are more concerned with massacre, anyway. The daemons in their army will also visually deliver their intent as well.
Think this is a cool idea? They are just something to have a bit of fun with. They will be somewhat of a departure from my Death Guard army, and just want to cut loose for a bit. I wouldn't want to have a normal Khornate army. Too much red and brass!
PS- Blood for the blood god!!
i like the idea i'm thinking of the same thing but with emporers children but i was going with a newly turned chapter thus i would have my own colour scheme
"take my love, take my land, take me to where i cannot stand, i don't care i'm still free you can't take the sky from meee" ;- firefly
"i'm gonna grant you your greatest wish i'm gonna show you a world without sin" ;- serentiy
"I am a leaf on the wind, watch how i soar" ;- serenity
Sound like a preety nifty idea. I would personally love to play agaist an army with that background. The color scheme sounds sweet to.
Cool idea. I myself have never liked the red and brass much either. I think it will turn out good.
Can you hear the voices too?
The only minor (and very minor, it is) problem is that if they're in pre-heresey colors they probably would be wearing pre-heresey power armor which looked very different than the current plastic marines.
I have done the same, changing colours that is on my Thousand Sons and it's great fun to do. Eventhough one uses a non-DIY army it still has a personal touch.
I like the colours you chose and above all the fact blood would actually show on it. In my oppinion it suits the Khornates much better.
DON'T BE OPPRESSED BY THE SET COLOR SCHEMES!
Good to see somebody else doing Khornates in somehting other then red and Gold. I myself chose a completely different color scheme [Not pre or post heresy] of Metallics and ink. Good luck, can't wait to see pics!

Hey,"Just" for fun?Originally Posted by Captain AmericaA pre-Heresy Chaos Legion? Cool, maybe. Original, no.Think this is a cool idea?Maybe I missed a memo. Aren't they all? One question: What about bunny hats? They are just something to have a bit of fun with
I was just insinuating that I am not trying to powergame with this army, as many Khornate armies are wont to do. Its built around the fluff I described rather than something shallow. Who knows if they will even see the battlefield? Perhaps as units in a Black Legion army... Therefore, "just for fun" means "not for serious, yelling about the rules" play. But, then, I never get that serious!Originally Posted by Playa
As for originality, I haven't seen a pre-heresy World Eaters army, but it doesn't mean it hasn't been done. Thus, the mentioning of "cool," not "original." As many years as this game has been around, it has most likely been done many times.
Bunny hats? Are you referring to the dumb Khorne ears on their helmets? Not doin em. This army just recently came out of stasis and they haven't taken the time to modify their armor (thank goodness). They have their axes and such, but haven't bothered with ordering the paint from their hardware store. Blood looks so much better on white, anyway! :shifty:
Just give it a mix of fresh and dried blood. Dried encrusted blood on shiny white armour will look damn cool.
We expect pictures.
