So, to help clarify some rules for me, say I have a squad of havocs with 4 autocannons. Up comes a devilfish with that nasty “everything glances off” rule in which you need a 6 to hit. If my squad has tank busters does that mean I need a 5 or 6 to hit (because of the 1+) or does that not affect this?

:Whistle Blows: Time Out! It's not a 6 to hit for shooting, it's a 6 to hit in close combat as it is a skimmer. The rule for shooting is, if it moves 6 inches or more, it can only be glanced. That devilfish just got a whole lot less intimidating didn't it? Cheers.
But what does that mean, can only be glanced? Dosen't that mean it only takes damage on a roll of 6 or more?
I hate that my first enemy is Tau, their rules are so confusing!
Page 65 of the BGB explain's armour penetration, and page 69 the skimmer's rule.
''It begs the question; why would the emperor permit something quite so dangerous and untamed to exist? And that would be to take down another Space Marine Legion."
even if your armour penetration roll gets you a penetrating hit, it can only be treated as a glancing hit. simple eh?
since the page in the rulebook has already been mentioned I guess there is not much more to say other than:
be careful not to mix up shooting at a skimmer and assaulting a skimmer in hand-to-hand combat.
Shut up and play.
Tau rules are no more confusing then any other, Just refuse to be jerked around.Originally Posted by Shoal07
Forgive me, but don't Autocannons rend? can't remember at the moment but I'm pretty sure that's what termies keep using to shred my XV's.
A hint for Devilfish; they have good armour sv but they go down quick too lots of decent fire.
just be sure a suit team doesn't creep up on your tank hunters.
Hope you can use this;

I make a point of never laughing at stupid people. They can't help that they're stupid, just as I can't help hitting them.- Aun'Vre
No. How is a solid slug shot rending?
And you're not up against Chosen Termies, you're up against Loyalist ones. Tithe their assault cannons (which are rending).
Tau vehicles are 1 of the 3 most annoying races there are. Next to Eldar & Necron.
Post your army lists in the ARMY LIST section! Not that hard!
You're confusing Autocannons with Assault Cannons - Assault Cannons are Rending, Autocannons are not. Hope that helps. :yes:Originally Posted by Lucy
I'd recommend following mrdave's post, and checking out the rules in the rulebook. Very basically, if you need a 5 to glance and a 6 to penetrate, the Skimmers Moving Fast rule makes that 6 a glance, too. So you still need the same roll to glance, but you can only glance, no matter what you roll, as long as it ties or is above the AV of the vehicle.
Make sure to read the rulebook, as it explains things clearly there. ^_^

Whoa, rending autocannons? Sweet... Wait a tic, thats not right.
Read the Rule Book on skimmers, shooting at them, and the special rules man. Know your weapons. Chat it up with a Tau player on this forum if need be, "say your interested in them", and get the info.
