A fellow gamer has asked me this -
Can you use a Khorne Berserker unit as Chosen in an IW Army?
Thanks for your input!
Not anymore. They used to be able to do thit, if I recall right, but nowdays it's clearly stated in their entry in the Codex that the only mark allowed is that of undivided...
It says nothing about vehicles though, so you might actually have dedicated vehicles (not transports) in your IW-list....or your friend can.
Maybe we're not reading the question right. Does your friend want to know if he can use a Khorne Beserker Model as a Chosen CSM in the IW? If that's the case I don't see why not, as long as you don't use him with the MoK, only MoCU can be used in IW.
I was thinking the other night about buying a mega or battle set then I thought "but what to do about the Khorne Beserkers". I figured I'd paint them IW (leaving the mark the same color as the shoulder so you can't see it well) and use them as CSMs geared towards assualt. I don't know if MoCU units can use the Khorne axe so I would just make them Power weapons on my list. Should work fine uless you play against someone REALLY anal.
If that is the question, using the models as Chosen of Chaos undivided or unmarked, then of course.
But if this is the case, and he bought the set and all, he could trade the Khornate bitz (torsos, heads, axes and shoulder pads) for Undivided bits on the Trading Board.
As long as the opponent knows they are not Khornates there should be no problem though.
That's cool that we have a trading board for stuff like that. However, I think it's nice to have different models in your army then usual. I look at all the SM players (what, probably 75% of WH40k, if not more) and all their armies look the same, just painted different. I think it's cool when someone, for example, paints Khorne Beserkers as Iron Warriors, uses the right weapons and all, and fields them as Chosen. Then their chosen look unique and their army looks unique. All perspective I guess.Originally Posted by Andusciassus
Just as long as someone dosen't proxy their army (this teddy bear is a dreadnaught kinda stuff). That's not unique, just confusing.
Shoal, this is why you play chaos. the nice thing about marines is their uniformity and preciseness. Like youeslf, i like individuality, which is why i found myself drawn to Chaos.Originally Posted by Shoal07
For this reason, it's very important to paint your boyos original colours. That way, when you wake up, stretch and declare to yourself, "Today, is an Alpha kind of day." you can play them no probs.
The only problems i think you'd have with this is Plague marines and rubric marines.
Basically, my Iron Warriors (which I will post soon) can be played as either BL or IW because they do have a boltgun metal color to them but they are also black and gold (black shoulders, lots of shadowing, etc). Really, I can play them either way.
However, I do like your original colors suggestion. When I get my lord finished (this week, my wife likes to do heads so I'm wating on both of us to be available) I'll post some pictures for everyone. They're converted battle for macragge guys (except the lord) but I think they turned out really well (just a little plain in the detail).
To be honest comrade, as long as you're creating a legal list and your models don't take the mess with WYSIWYG, you should have a problem with no one but the most analy retentive of players. But then again, they tend to have problems with everyone
Yeah, I would always use a legal list. They are either BL or IW, but not mixed in one game. You could mix the two, but you'd have basically IW (because the BLs couldn't have any mark besides MoCU and they wouldn't be able to summon deamons, also, they wouldn't get the IW bonuses, so it's sort of stupid).
the question of using khorne beserkers as chosen is no, u cant have a mark other then undivided, u can use them as close combat chosen, but without the mark and bonuses of khorne
