hey all after much considreation i have decided to start an iron warrior army but don't know where to start so oculd someone please help me out
also is 9 obliderators considered cheese
If you buy and paint 9 Oblits... you better field them!
People could scream cheese cause its Iron Warriors period... just what some people do when your Lisk is pounding away at their rear lines.
Oblits are great and I think a must have. Get a Basilisk as well. Str 8 Ap 3... ordinance... yes... its lovely against most everyone! I also use a Vindicator as well as back up when the Termies come dropping in.
for friendly games i wouldnt field 9 oblits. If you want people to enjoy playing against you i would strart with 3.
In friendly games i use only two! As individual units, i still get power gamer screamed at me!
the first theing you want to decide is what kind of army you want, Shooty and sitting back (heavy weapons in squads) Shooty and advancing (dual plasma or melta) or assualty (rhinos or infiltration with Powerfisting champions).
I usually go with Advacing shooty.
My HQ is a mix of closecombat and shooting, i use Kai gun and power weapon Teamed up with D.Strength and D.resilence. He hopps between the plasma squads so he doesnt get shot then leaps out to chop somthing up
Two oblits fill my elites.
I take two squads with dual plasma and two with lascannons for my four troop choices.
A Mhull vindy and a defiler for ordanace support.
Hey, I'm also new to Iron Warriors. Dan Jones has some good advise. I think and ideal Oblit setup for 500pts is 1, 2 or 3 at 1000 (each in their own squad) and then 2 or 3 squads of two above that. Anymore and you're really lovin the oblits (and assembly is NOT fun with these guys).
I also just threw up some pics of my WIP. I hope a mod approves them soon so I can see how they came out on the forums.
In a 1k points game, fielding 9 oblits is excessive....And just plain boring. I wouldn't do it unless your opponent is cool with it/you are attempting to get retribution ^^.
Good IW lists are well rounded and centric to a shooty theme (imo)...
Bad IW lists are 9 oblits, 2 marine squads with just bolters, cheap lord and a bassy.
I personally like to sit back and turtle, purely because I find it to be entertaining watching them run their assault squads through a meat grinder.
If you like dreads, this army is for you. A dread with Ml/hb/havok launcher is one of my favorites as one of my buddies loves his "I have 200 models on the damn board in a 750 points game" nids. Packs alot of firepower in a pretty easily defendable target. His wee little gaunts can't actually hurt it, so I just chuckle and rain death.
If you like bikes : This army is for you.
-More so than any other army( Chaos anyway) I feel that bikers belong with IW...No defender can last against something thatout ranges it...so naturally they'd rely on the good machine blessed bikes to haul ass out there, kill what ever is shelling them and return back to the lines.
i,M nto sure but i think walkers can only shoot 2 weapons per turn...
They are claased differntly than most vehicles.
They can fire any amount of main or defensive weapons stationary or two if they move 6" or less. But if you get fire frenzy you cant move anyway so its all 6 blasts for that dready!
You can only ever fire one ordanance shot and only barage if your stationary
Hey i prefer 2 sqauds of 2 oblits lascannon infanrty and a pred with heavy bolters autocannon, maybe a bassie, in a 1000 pts.
You got top love the new terminator lord he looks so iron warriory, awesome.
Hope is the first step on the road to dissapointment.
